Hi!
I would like to know if the devs have addressed this issue at some point. Currently I’m flying through south america and at least half the continent looks like this. Ruins the whole point of the trip.
I guess there’s lots of other parts around the world that looks like this. Is this going to be eventually solved worldwide in MSFS2020 using new images or maybe some kind of AI solution? Or we will have to wait until MSFS2024?
¿Is there any mention at all from the devs about how they plan to address this?
Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to the World subcategory of General Discussion & Community Support. The General Discussion category is meant for discussions that fall outside of our other sub-categories.

So it is not an issue with the weather engine but with the Bing actual photos used for the ground textures as mentionned by KaelaNikNak. You should report it in the Bug\Scenery and Airports forum, providing exact coordinates and screenshots.
Good, general advice. Posting an image of somewhere on the globe, then telling Asobo to fix it is a little unfair without giving them the latitude, and longitude at least.
I believe you would be absolutely right if this was happening in some specific latitude and longitude as you assume. I’ve been flying over several countries in south america and they are filled with clouds, like i mean there’s not a moment during the trip where you don’t see them. Hundreds and hundreds of nautical miles filled with clouds. So my post is actually more of a general question. I’m not asking about the solution for one specific latitude and longitude, I’m asking if there’s some plan to address this in a worldwide fashion, because it is a much larger problem than just a couple areas. I hardly believe Asobo needs my input about specific coordinates to find these. They are not hard to find at all.
It’s the availability of the satellite images commercially - cloud cover is part of the reality.
There are ways to remove it today, but part of the solution is you need data of what’s underneath to extrapolate what the terrain could look like - so once again, do you have enough satellite passes close in historical time to get that kind of data and begin mosaic’ing a terrain? Satellite passes and data are expensive - how do you get it without breaking the bank? Probably more than most people care about, but the details do matter when it comes to something this technologically tough. I don’t envy whoever has to think this one up.
