Clouds on the World Map prevent to clearly see the airport

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
Now that clouds are displayed by default on the worldmap, when cloud base is low, even if you zoom in to the max, clouds are not removed like in FS2020 and can prevent to clearly see the airport

Did you experience this issue before you joined the Beta? did not test since by default there was no clouds on the World-map

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? yes

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Select Free Flight, Live Weather on
  2. Search on the World-map (or any other external weather sites) an airport where low clouds coverage is reported
  3. Zoom-in the world-map to the max
  4. Notice you can see the clouds and airport is partially or totally covered by the clouds, what can prevent you to correctly select a parking spot or a runway departure

Sorry but this was a design change made without giving due consideration to the impact on usability. I really hope it is reverted back before SU2 releases.

• OP mentioned zooming in clears the clouds, while that may work for choosing a parking spot, it isn’t always a viable workaround. I had a CTD and wanted to resume my flight in mid-air from the same place where it crashed, however it was impossible to locate that spot due to cloud cover. I needed to temporarily disable live weather, find the location and then re-enable live weather; it’s just annoying and adding clicks to a workflow that was previously working OK.

An example over an airport, however if trying to start a flight mid-air you’ve got no chance!

With low and thick clouds there is no way of nicely selecting where to start the flight. I wanna use that map to select a gate, not to see how the weather is like

Or at least make clouds disapear when zooming in the airport !

Have you tried using Map view in Map layers?

Ohhhh yeah it might have reverted to Sattelite View by default. Other twos are fine thanks

What? No! Please do NOT get rid of weather on the world map. I often use it to decide where to fly.

Yes, the same is here - I have to filter them out selecting map layers everytime to see the airfield. Otherwise:

The request is not to completely remove clouds from the World map, it is to remove clouds when you zoom in close enough from the airport so that you can clearly see the airport layout, parking and runway spots. This is how it works in msfs-2020.

I didn’t know that existed! Does it remember your last selection?
