Does anyone else find the visual airplane lean while banking in VR to be unnatural? In real life it should look like the horizon is what has moved.
I think the horizon tilt is correct but if you add the two together it has to be off.
I’ve mentioned it before, but I think I’m the only person bothered by it.
I guess I’m alone on this one.
It’s similar problem to how turbulence is shown in VR. We have the camera shake/momentum effect to turn off or reduce which gives a more realistic experience in VR. I just wish the visual of the airplane banking were part of this or independently available.
I try to fly with visual ques like CFIs teach and this just throws me slightly.
Yes, I have a triple monitor system and the “lean” is really objectionable. I think you can deal with it but ONLY if we can get at camera.cfg for a particular aircraft which isn’t there until you stream it? I tried to set “MomentumEffect” = 0 in various places (including MSFS Settings) but that didn’t do it. In FSX, there were some accelration effects parameters that could be zeroed.
Maybe the files for 2024 are in: ???
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Limitless\Packages\fs-devmode\Edition\templates\AssetGroups\ModularSimObjects\airplanes\template-modular-airplane-turboprop\common\config
or maybe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Limitless\Packages\fs-devmode\Edition\templates\AssetGroups\SimObjects\airplanes\template-airplane-piston
EDIT: Nope, setting MomentumEffect = 0 isn’t enough - there is some mention of Dynamic Head Movement (old FSX stuff??) and maybe there is a specific file for a given aircraft that is streamed so the file isn’t on our PC??
Yeah, I’ve replaced every occurrence of MomentumEffect = 1 on my system to 0. It didn’t seem to do anything that I could tell.
It looks like it is a function of bank(roll) and rollrate. Maybe it just can’t be disabled. It just seems like such a wrong effect - especially for those of us with any actual hardware (e.g. HOTAS) in front of us that would not rotate with the graphics cockpit. Maybe we should report it as a bug
EDIT: The Instrument Views do not have this effect and then you can move until it is correct for pilot view - and then save as custom (maybe not on the “save” part)
That’s an interesting idea. I’ll have to play with that. I have it setup so I can easily translate the camera in all directions.
