Cockpit windows scrolling granularity

Greetings. I’m taking screenshots of buttons and switches by using Left-Alt+Arrow key combinations to try and center the the object. The movements are large making it difficult to center the screen on a button or switch.

Is there an additional key combination or a setting that will allow me to make finer movements left-right and up-down with the arrow keys?

Thanks

Use the mouse look to position more accurately, along with the arrow keys.

I’m unclear on what you are saying. Mouse freelook tilts the image, pans up and down in an arc, not a flat plane, or zooms. Holding either the left or right mouse button while pressing arrows does not change the lack of arrow movement granularity.

I meant use the arrow key to get it roughly in place then use mouse to fine tune the view.

Could also use the default preset cockpit views, then mouse to get the angle you like.

I am sure it’s the Freelook Speed setting if you want to use the arrow keys and move around the cockpit in a more civilised way. If you want to get in close use the mouse wheel. If you are taking a lot of photos try setting 10 or even lower.

Unfortunately that only changes the mouse movement speed, not the keyboard movement speed. Using the mouse in freelook changes the angle of the view. I need to be able to head-on center a switch, not view it at a side angle. I’m making images that I can use as streamdeck switch icons.

Hi KlaatuBarada634

The only thing I can think of is our keyboard settings must be different.

In my Keyboard Profile the " Arrow Keys" are set to " Translate " right / left / up / down

This moves the camera on a flat plane across the cockpit it does not swing around on a radius or alter perspective to the screen, and it maintains a parallel view across the whole consul.
Then altering the " Freelook Speed " in either the drop-down panel or from inside “control options” (which does the same thing ) slows down the panning when using the arrow keys.
The lowest speed is 10

Translate travel distance is the value I need to control, not Freelook Speed. Changing Freelook settings has no impact on translating, at least for me. I confirmed I have the arrow keys set to Translate Cockpit View Left and Right, and Increase and Decrease Cockpit View Height. I also set Freelook Speed to 10.

These are two screenshots of the instrument panel. When I quickly press the Left Arrow key. The screen still translate several centimeters instead of a few millimeters with each arrow press.

I’m in need of a setting that translates the view as close to 1mm as possible to allow me to center on a button or switch.

Hi
There seems to be no way to slow down any movement below that 10 setting. Windows adjustments don’t have any effect.

The slowest speed I can achieve is using the Xbox controller.
My wireless controller is on default settings.
And if you are in the cockpit, you can hold the left bumper button, and the freelook is engaged.
Then using the joysticks very carefully, especially the right joystick you can move the view by millimeters I think it may be an arc, but still has much better accuracy.

If you have the £150 Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2, it has multiple options for varying the acceleration of the joystick movements.

Good Luck
