    Yes

  2. Description of the issue:
The community folder was installed in the C: drive when the sim itself was installed on a separate drive. MSFS2020 placed the community folder in the same location as the sim install, why was it made different for MSFS2024?

:white_check_mark: FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you? (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)
It’s how the installation happened.

:white_check_mark: REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue.

You can change the path of the community-folder in-game: My Library → chogwheel on the right, next to the search bar.

That seems to be for the packages directory, the community folder sits in there so achieves the same thing, but it’s not clear.

Except this doesn’t seem to work. If you do this, it just keeps forcing itself back to the C: drive. I’ve been having this issue since Tuesday and it’s still an issue for me.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Whenever I use the cogwheel under “My Library” to select my G: drive for the Community folder (the G: drive being where the sim itself is installed) it keeps reverting it back to the C: drive.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

agreed, every other time I load the game it has moved back to the default from my own directory. I have to restart the sim again to sort the scenery. Also that seems to anger the 3 sreen settings on my rig and 3rd screen distorts… forcing another reset… which often changes Community back to default again.

Comunity copied but always empty in FS2024

Well, I see that I’m not the only one who happens to me. I always try to keep it in the file I want but after a few starts or a CTD it returns to the original path. And this is already starting to tire me. It is already reported to Zendesk, the number is this 229501

we must claim about the impossibility of installing the game entirely on another disc, including for streamed data? It’s a shame for all those who have a dedicated disk other than the C reserved for Windows.

Platform: PC (Steam)

I tried changing the rolling cache folder and limit but it always goes back to C drive and 0.0 GiB once I save & exit the settings page. I also checked the custom folder I was using and its empty.

Right now my sim is constantly crashing some time after loading into an aircraft. I have a feeling it might be because of this since I don’t have much space left in C drive.

Yes, I have the exact same problem. Steam version, too.

I have the same problem. However, I only have ~5GB of space left on my C: drive, and I wonder if that might be causing issues.

OK, so it turned out that low disk space was the issue. The crash possibly occurs when the system tries to write to a rolling cache which doesn’t exist (because MSFS failed to create it).

I managed to get around it by copying the folder “C:\Users<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024” to the drive that I want, backing up the original folder, then replacing the original folder with a junction to the new folder.

I managed to fly around for 20 minutes…before getting a new seemingly unrelated crash. But the wokaround above should fix the missing caching issue.

For me I can’t touch the rolling cache settings or the game won’t launch anymore. The settings seem to work physically. If I move the rolling cache it makes a new file. If I change the size, the size changes in Windows Explorer. But the game just won’t launch. Only leaving everything default works.

I have about 700gb free after uninstalling msfs2020. I set my rolling cache to 200gb to reduce loading times on frequently used locations. You need that 200gb free for the cache to be usable. And you should always have at least 100gb free on your system drive anyway honestly. Otherwise upgrade your m.2

I also have this issue, and also with around 15 gb of space on C drive (where Windows is installed).

However both Steam and the MSFS 2024 copy are on another drive entirely, and it shoudn’t affect its generation once you set the location on the free drive… expect it doesn’t work.

I had the same issue, after changing the cache location, the cache in fact did not appear in the requested location (not even after restarting the sim). After a second try it did seem to work though. However, the old cache was still present and I had to delete it manually.

If you switch cache location you have to delete the old one manually, the sim will make a new one on the new selected location!
