Community folder mods not installing

I have extracted and placed the folder ‘MSFS TBM 930 Project’ that I downloaded from github into my community folder as well as the Working-Title G3000 plus a few livery mods. But after maybe 6 days each with a reload of MSFS (current version all updated) the TBM mod does not install. I press the info button and it says waiting. It took a few restarts for the Garmin mod to install, and it seems livery is a bit hit and miss depending on author.

Any thoughts? I’m a newbie to the sim. 80 hours so far.

  1. The Content Manager cannot install or remove packages in the Community folder. It only displays a list of some of them.
  2. Download the package again from GitHub, extract it, place the extracted package folder into the Community folder. Make sure you are downloading the compiled package zip file. Sometimes GitHub developers have directories with source code. These cannot be used in MSFS.
  3. Check to see if there is a readme.txt that might have installation tasks. If it is still not working contact the developer(s). Also check the package date. Older packages may have compatibility issues that the developer(s) need to fix.

From the directory name, it would appear like this is what the OP did incorrectly. I think that’s the source code directory, not the game package.

I’ve done this accidentally before. Make sure your extracted TBM folder has a manifest and layout .json files in it. Then you can be confident you have extracted the proper file.

I think same…

@GhoulishWall840
you must open the zip file and choose the correct folder you copy into the community folder, not the main folder.

Thanks for your replies guys, much appreciated. I double checked but I had gone through the correct procedure with the correct file, so I deleted the github one and replaced it with the one on Flightsim.to to see if that worked but alas no go yet.

I just had another look at the extracted folder and realised the extraction process put it inside an unnecessary parent folder, after fixing that the sim installed it no problem. There’s a lot to learn…eh.

Yeah, bit embarrassed tbh, I didn’t quite understand the advice I was given even though it was extremely clear now I look back.
