Complete install required after last update

Hi,

I ran last update on Tuesday. Things worked fine but today I got this:

Not sure what to do with this other than waiting several hours. Why should it happen? I didn’t reinstall the game and the hard drive had enough space.

Sometimes it can happen that the installer looses it’s register key pointing to the installed folder. In this case just point the launcher to the folder you originally installed the sim in, and it should pick up your installed files and continue with just an update

How to point the launcher? @AwesomeBlack533

Click on Browse button then direct it to where you installed the sim

Browse where? I think I found something else, I pointed it user.cfg file

From the update (the image you posted).

Did what you find work?

I can’t even launch the sim now and don’t know what to try next.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice. It launches from the install, but after a restart or shut down it won’t launch. I get the black screen, then it goes back to the desktop.
This is with the Community folder empty and I even tried it with only the keyboard and mouse plugged in; so no flight controls.
HELP!

Restart PC

Tried that lots of times with no result

Hi @AberrantBull146

Please open a new topic on the forum with your issue, if it doesn’t exist already after searching for an existing one. That way we can help you gully on your problem, and you won’t hijack other people their topic. Thank you!

@KindTortoise480 as said, click the browse button on the screen and point it to the folder where your Official and Community folder are. After that everything should be good again!

If your install is not in the standard/default location on C drive, you may need to edit your UserCfg.opt.

The link tells you how to delete the old path and point to the actual location.

If you did install to the default location and the path in your screen grab is correct, I’ve seen others say they haven’t been able to sort what’s causing the issue and have had to just bite the bullet and redownload.

The size it’s prompting you with is a little bigger than what others have seen. Other reports show a 67GB download so your issue could be something else, too.

Thanks. Already found this and did that. It worked like a charm. Embarrassing for Microsoft and Asobo a bug like this happens…

Yep. It would be easy for the install/update stub to find the official and community folders on its own, but also easier to prompt the user with something that doesn’t look so much like there are no options or other solutions. It’s bare basic functionality that many don’t understand is frequently the wrong thing to do.
