Hi all
I bought the Just Flight PA 28 last night and love it so far.
I found the document folder and tried to copy it so I can view the manual on my laptop whilst flying. However, Windows will not let me copy any files from the community folder (even though I am the sole person who uses the PC and the administrator)
Is there a way I can do this.
Also I have noted all the files in the community folder have little padlock symbols on them?
Even the ones I have copied into this folder from free downloads??
So I can no longer copy any files from the community folder
You should be able to COPY anything in your community folder to another folder, say a new C:\COMMUNITY_BU
Then you want to DELETE that community folder, and everything in it.
You may need to work on that, if it has corrupted permissions.
IF nothing else, you may be able to rename it.
Then, just create a NEW community folder, in the same place as the old one was, and copy your files that were in the old community folder, back into the new one.
IF you cannot achieve the above, there is something significantly here, and potentially elsewhere, which will most likely NOT go away by itself.
Then more drastic measure - get expert help - uninstall & re-install MSFS 2020 - and the ultimate - re-install windows !!!
I have the same issue, have done since day 1. I can put anything I want into the community folder. However, if I try to cut or copy something from the community folder back onto the desktop it says “your organisation does not allow you to place files here”. Even though I am the sole user and administrator and the PC doesn’t belong to an organisation!
I also have the little padlock symbols on all files in the community folder and on the folder itself.
I have checked the folder isn’t read only, and it isn’t, so I’m afraid I am as stuck as you are!
Hi all
Thanks for the reply. It would appear the this is a issue some users have (I also posted the question on another forum and quite a few users have the same issue)
I guess it has something to do with the windows configuration??
I also guess I will have to live with it.
Please note
I discovered I can move the files just not copy them.
Go figure?
I will often make back-ups of the community folder using 7-zip. If the resulting file is created inside of the community folder, it can then be copied / moved / deleted or whatever. I then unzip it into a folder - on desktop, for example - then I can delve inside and tinker with textures or whatever before copying back to the community folder. Then I also have a back-up for possible future use.
Could neither move nor copy mine. However I was able to zip them from within the ommunity folder, then move the zip to my backup folder & unzip ok. All files appear to have copied ok File sizes same~same :)
