Confused about DLSS 3.7

Ok I’m not the smartest person so maybe you all can explain this.

Apparently this 3.7 is working wonders for a lot of people with frame rates and texture clarity.

Is this something Microsoft could add in a future sim-update or how does this work?

The videos show the sim has 3.5 by default, so without having to edit lots of stuff, can Microsoft just update the file in sim update 15?

I have a 4090 for what it’s worth.

Thanks

Marc

In fact, nVidia should do it with their driver updates. But they don’t. For some unknown reason, we have to update DLSS ourselves.

Microsobo doesn’t include it in their Software Updates because it only applies to nVidia GPU’s.

The easiest way to update DLSS is to install DLSS Swapper.

I’m in same boat. LOL You may have seen this video just released; DLSS 3.7 Update for TRX 40 Series Cards by IslandSimPilot. Does good job explaining process to update. A short flight revealed positive results for me. Good luck!!

the normal dlss swap might not work well as nvidia added a new quality option, but who knows.

I watched the video, and will probably follow the procedure for that very reason.
I was going to post the link in my first post. In fact, I did, but deleted it, since OP seemed reluctant to get into something that complicated.

I’ve read that DLSS Swapper has 3.7 available, but I haven’t done it yet, so I don’t know if it streamlines adding the new quality levels the video talks about.

The other thing I’m unsure of is whether to update to 552.12 before I update DLSS.
IslandSimPilot seemed to love the combination, but I’ve been very disappointed with every driver update since 537.67 (which I’m still using.)

Does anyone know whether the driver version matters when updating DLSS?

I’ve been using DLSS Swapper for some time without any issues. I’m running 3.7 now and my performance and frame rate are perfect.

i’m on the latest nvidia driver with a 4080 and it’s quite good, i haven’t ran into any issues yet.

  • on topic tho : i’m about to test the new DLSS 3.7 version and also the frame generation file for 3.7.
I’ll post my findings here later.

EDIT: I honestly can’t tell a difference, it’s still not that great.

I tested 3.5.1 and 3.7 at the same airport, same plane, same TOD, same game settings. Not a single fps change. I am so lost with these dlss files. Tested with DLSS Quality. And i can’t figure out why there is 2 DLAA options on settings. One near TAA FXAA DLSS DLAA, other is under DLSS options like Quality performance etc. 1st DLAA causing shimmering, others not and looking way better.

It’s not making any wonders, don’t give into hype that Nvidia and crazy enthusiast is creating. It’s pure noses. Nvidia will not able do anything more with DLSS and FG without more powerful hardware AKA RTX 5xxx or 6xxx.

The secret is to use “DLAA” for the best graphics. The DLSS Swapper with DLSS 3.7 improves and optimizes the fps. Every other setting is downgrading graphics.

Did exact what’s in the video. Have a 7800x3d with 4070ti. Does not work. Makes my vram fill up and settings are already really low. Also the sim does not look nice at all with dlaa.
With frame generation off it works very smooth. My cpu works at around 10 ms and so does my gpu.

I had tried DLAA before (way back when I was using the old DLSS 2.5) and wasn’t impressed.

I updated to 3.7 (from 3.6) and tried DLAA. I agree that the graphics clarity was really, really good. A noticable improvement, although I did see a drop in FPS vs. DLSS Quality.
But my liquid-cooled GPU temps went really high - like 79°C core/ 89.7°C hot spot. In fact, I’m pretty sure it was being throttled. I’ve never seen temps that high.

DLSS Quality brought them down to 68°C core/ 74°C hot spot. I’m going to play around with undervolting it to see if I can get those temps down a bit when using DLAA.

I also ramped my pump speed up a bit, and might buy a 360mm radiator to replace the 240mm one I’ve got now.

DLAA is arguably the best DLSS method you can use (if you don’t need the extra fps)
It is miles better than the standard TAA aliasing method in multiple games.

The only downside is the heavy ghosting that still happens on digital displays
IE the speed tape and alt tape etc.

For now with MSFS i’ll stick to TAA.
And frame generation I would love to use, but DX12 is eating unnecessary amount of VRAM causing textures to corrupt on the ground and other places.

My experience too. It looks better and performs better than TAA for anything but digital displays, where it still ghosts and looks blurry when in flight.

Take a closer look at https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/E_FRjo7aGgE for an easy way to setup Nvidia dev options for optimizing MSFS.

Same. I find that with DX12 with FG and TAA, I get really bad graphic artifacts and frame skips, almost like as if the ground and vegetation is moving like jelly. On a 4090 as well.

Why do you need DLSS with a 4090? I run everything on Ultra with a 4090 in 4k and have > 55 - 60fps with just 4k and TAA@100% (so no scaling) Game looks great.

I couldn’t update to DLSS 3.7 with DLSS Swapper so followed Islandsimpilot’s video which was easy to do and had no problems.
But, apart from a bit of mouse stuttering for a few minutes, I didn’t notice any difference in appearance or performance (in VR) although I was unable to switch to the Nvidia Frame Generator setting in General Options. This of course may be due to another setting.

DLSS Quality or DLAA modes usually recover lost image data like lines and fences and other small details you lose with generic TAA @orthi .
That’s why I prefer normally using it in non competetive games even tho I have the GPU power to run all games 4K natively as well.

If it wasn’t for the digital tapes ghosting heavily or a 1-2 sec camera pan blur with DLAA I would’ve used it in MSFS as well.
