Are simmers starting to consider the Intel Arc’s A700-series GPU’s in the $300-$400 range instead of the Nvidia 3000 or 4000 series GPU’s and will the A700 series be good enough for our demanding MSFS ?

Well I can get a 12g 3060ti here for $500 out the door and I know it will run anything. I have seen reports that the intel stuff (even the high end units) have issues with some games. So its sort of buyer beware if you ask me.
Personal Comments
Stick with AMD and Nvidia. Proven compatibility and performance.
It’s supposed to be on par with an RTX 3060.
And not very far of performance of a RTX3070 according YT comparison videos.
I hope Intels GPUs can compete with AMD and Nvidia in the future. Perhaps this can influence the cost of GPUs in general, make them cheaper by competition.
The Intel cards may be great or a flop, however, you will definitely be on the “bleeding edge” since they are all new. Given how demanding MSFS 2020 is it could be ugly
Reviews will supposedly be published Oct. 5, so we’ll soon get a much better idea about the new cards. Of course, because they’re new, drivers may not be ready for every game, possibly including MSFS. Personally, I’m hoping they take off. I’d think over time a company that has a lot of clout, like Intel, would see to it that good drivers are available for the popular titles soon after release, so they appeal to as big a market as possible.
Competition also keeps the other competitors on their toes!
Yes, I agree. They need competition. The GPU Mfg.'s have made huge profits and are still taking us for a ride as far as I am concerned.
Rumors are that the Arc GPUs perform much better in general under the DirectX 12 drivers than under the DirectX 11 drivers, which are based on the older integrated GPU drivers and don’t make as good use of the hardware.
Recent and upcoming work on DX12 for MSFS should pay dividends here!
Don’t know if this is indicative of the final product, but if you can believe this, the A770 at $329 (8GB VRAM) or $349 (16 GB VRAM) provides higher frame rates in MSFS!
MSFS - Arc 770 vs nVidia 3060 ti
Oh yes…Bless the competition ! FINALLY !
Appreciate the comments and link. Very much appreciated.
Early reports seem to indicate that whilst Intel Arc is OK with newer game engines, it performs below par with older game engines.
IMHO it would be very risky to purchase Arc Intel for MSFS, without hard data and detailed reviews on its actual performance with our preferred game.
I hope ARC will turn out to be great for MSFS, but right now it is not a certainty.
If you’re interested in a brand new $350-400 card, AMD 7600 XT based on RDNA3 is expected to offer very good performance improvements, although its GA may be around January.
I just bought an MSI 3060ti yesterday for well under $500. So you can get a proven card that works with everything for that amount.
HI,
Thank you for that info. Pricing was getting way out of sorts. Glad to hear you got a reasonable deal on a 3060ti. I will be upgrading soon… Appreciate your comments.
I am thinking of buying the Intel A770 16 GB.
Edit to qualify my thoughts on this.

Presently pleased with my GTX 1660 TI at 4K Ultra, TAA.
Except that the 6 GB VRAM is limiting the eye candy.
FPS is ok with me. -
I’ve been wanting the RTX 3080 but can’t afford it.
Don’t want a used one and gamble on it (mining).
New prices being held high by Nvidia. -
Not interested in the RTX 4080.
4080 price is too high.
Heat dissipation is way to high.
Can’t afford new motherboard and memory. -
Intel offers a GPU that is very interesting.
Everything that I want and need.
Ray Tracing and DLSS equivalent, 16 GB VRAM
Drivers are being talked about but I’ll take the gamble. -
Everyone is waiting on some independent reviews.
This one looks promising.
Compares A770 16 GB vs RTX 3070.
- I’m going to go for it.
Well, if you do make that purchase I hope you will post all of your findings here. It will be very interesting to see what this card is capable of right straight from our forum simmers. Thanks for the post.
If you run that other sim, check the forums over there, there was a thread that the new intel stuff wouldnt work with it. I didnt dig, it could be just about the lesser ones, but check to make sure I would say.
