Consistent 60-Second Micro-Stutter / Main-Thread Spike Since SU3–SU4B (Even in Main Menu)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

I am experiencing a consistent stutter exactly every 60 seconds, aligned with the full minute of an atomic clock. When it occurs, the main thread spikes noticeably in the developer mode FPS counter. For the remaining 59 seconds, the frame rate is completely stable. The FPS drops from ~125 FPS down to ~90/100 FPS during the stutter, then instantly recovers. This happens in both the main menu and in-flight, regardless of location or aircraft. I’ve already ruled out hardware, driver, and background software as causes for this behavior only happens in MSFS 2024 and not in any other game or benchmark.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Occurs every single minute without fail. Reproducible 100% of the time under all tested conditions.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Start the simulator with an empty Community folder.
  2. Load into the main menu or any airport in any aircraft.
  3. Enable Developer Mode → Display FPS.
  4. Observe the MainThread frame time graph for 2-3 minutes; a spike appears every 60 seconds, perfectly periodic.

YOUR SETTINGS

I have used developer mode to monitor the FPS and main thread graph but I didn’t change anything in dev mode.

I am using an MSI Nvidia RTX 4080 with the latest Nvidia driver.

These are my PC specs:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080
  • CPU: i9-13900k
  • RAM: 64GB DDR5 Ram
  • DRIVE: 2TB NVMe m.2 drive (Sim and Windows are installed on this)
  • PSU: 1000 Watts
  • No peripherals or background apps (e.g. G Hub, Razer Synapse) influence the timing — issue persists regardless.

Additional Notes

  • Clean reinstall performed.

  • No community content.

  • Verified no periodic CPU or GPU activity in Task Manager.

  • The same behavior is not observed in MSFS 2020 or other titles (Planet Coaster, benchmarks, etc.).

  • Issue persists even after the new beta update, although slightly less pronounced (FPS drop is smaller).
