The sim is constantly interrupted by notification that it cannot connect. Notifications that have to be clicked to dismiss and that stop any other input. As soon as they have been clicked I then get a green “connection successful” notification. Occasionally I get a red notification that the sim has switched to offline mode due to connection problems. However, other player aircraft are still visible, it only affects the scenery.
There is no problem with my internet connection. I have fibre optic broadband and get 20MB/s down and 8MB/s up on speed tests. NVIDIA driver updates download at 10MB/s or more.
This has only been an issue since sim update 5 (I’ve been flying since the alpha) and is getting to the point where it is ruining MSFS for me.
Thanks for your reply, yeah I’ve tried the xbox app re-login. It isn’t helping. I’m only using windows defender, which isn’t stopping MSFS from connecting and I don’t have a VPN on my my gaming PC. I have seen some things about port forwarding, however I don’t have access to the login information for my router.
I’m able to fly with friends with minimal lagging (non at all in DCS where I can fly parade formation with people in the US, me being in Vietnam), so I don’t think it is a stability issue. It seems like I just have an issue connecting to the scenery servers as even after it says I’vre been moved offline, I can still continue to fly with my friends, it only affects the scenery. While I know my bandwidth isn’t the world’s best, it should be (and was pre-SU5) capable of streaming in the scenery data needed.
do you meant 20mbit or 20MB ( ~200mbit ) ? I assumed 200mbit, because fiber.
In case of 20mbit, it might be realy not enough for all situations and may be msfs disconnect you because low bandwith. In case of 200mbit I can tell you this is much more as most people in my country have. If your ISP not limit somewhat, the “disconnect” have possible other reasons.
In case you mean only that you see that scenery data are loaded (pop in) , then you are not alone and we have existing topics about that. But thought you reported the “disconnect” issue.
I don’t mean the pop-in, I mean that I get a warning window pop-up on screen every 5 minutes telling me I don’t have connection, I have to dismiss that by clicking “ok” (while it is on-screen I lose plane control, so if landing I’m screwed) and then usually I get another pop-up telling me “connected successfully” immediately after. Maybe 1 in 10 times, the pop-up message tells me that I have been disconnected from online services, however it only affects the scenery. Photogrammetry stops loading in and the detail level of autogen drops, even the high quality satellite images stop loading on new tiles and I just get a flat olive colour or very blurry image. When I check the settings after this, in data “online services” and “photogrammetry scenery” have been turned off and need turning back on. But, I have not been disconnected from other players and my internet connection has been stable throughout.
Looks similar to your issue. But not see any kind of solutions. We can also not say whether it is a issue with specifiy locations/country ( and the servers ) , just not enought infos about.
Your 236 Mb/sec is only to your ISP, not to the MSFS servers. I have been able to replicate the network disconnection issue. I have created a flight plan with a large amount of detailed ground objects (deliberately) and set my graphics to HIGH or ULTRA, no AI, and Clear Skies. I intended to make this flight plan a test of FPS but was surprised at the network disconnects. About 3-5 minutes into the flight, the amount of downloaded data overwhelms my connection and the pop up message appears. I have to retest the flight plan to see if the hotfixes changed anything.
I had exactly the same problem 2 days ago, but yesterday was fine for me. I only have a 20Mbps connection, and usually that’s enough for streaming Bing maps, Photogrammetry and live weather.
Having to dismiss the warning message is a right royal pain…
This happens even if I’m flying over the sea. It seems that it is to do with my location, using a VPN set to a country with xbox live coverage fixes the issue. However I don’t feel like this is a valid long term solution. I have reported it to zendesk and am waiting for a response.
I have exactly the same issues. I know my Internet is not the fastest, but strangely I only experience issues in the evening here in Europe, or at other times when flying in the USA. And only since Sim update 5.
What is especially annoying is that the warning message takes over the entire screen and completely ruins the experience. Who thought this was a good idea? Nobody with any experience of aviation. Why not have a small discrete warning shown in the corner of the screen?
Same problem here, and I DO have a very good internet connection. No problems in any other games, just MSFS. It doesn’t seem a connection problem but a bug.
I apologize in advance for this report starting talking about XP12, but as at the end of this text I had the same problem in MSFS 2020. In this way, my report served to solve the problem in both simulations.
I spent some time having problems with disconnection from the XP12 every time I entered the simulator. I followed all the suggestions in this thread and some others without success.
I tested it with new windows installation and xp-12 (without addons and plugins)
Again without success.
Yesterday after many attempts I entered the windows 11 firewall and in the option (application authorization) I enabled all the boxes, both for private and public permission. I also added more than two applications that are inside the Xplane12 folder (Airforils.exe and Plane Maker.exe) and again enabled the boxes for both Private and public. I ran the xplane.exe as an administrator and to my surprise the problem was solved.
I leave here this simple report because it can help someone else who has been suffering from this issue.
PS. I had the same problems running MSFS 2020 and the problems were also fixed.
