Contail F50 Startup Problem

This is driving me nuts! I have watched 2 tutorials and do everything in order, but…

As soon as I switch the GPU on (either after connecting through the EFB) or other times after I switch the batteries on, I get a rapid machine-gun clicking and the rest of the electrical system never gets going. (I did turn the bus tie correctly as well. Like I said, I’ve followed 2 video tutorials). I also restarted the flight from the main menu to no avail.

If I ignore the clicking I can’t get other switches to perform what they should. Obviously an electrical problem but I don’t know what I could be doing wrong. The voltage shows over 25v but the clicking continues.

So I finally got around that…not sure what I did differently but it’s working. Now I have another issue- after I hit the engine starters, wait for the proper readings, and introduce fuel, the engine slowly dies.

I’ve followed all the steps- boosters on, ASPU fully up and running, etc.

It sounds like you might have some keybind issues somewhere. That rapid clicking sound from your video is the trim being continuously activated.

Given how your engines die after a start-up attempt, even with boosters on, it is possible there is another keybind conflict with the fuel.

Can you take another video of you attempting a start? Showing fuel switch positions, ignition switch positions, and engine instrumentation.

As I added in my 2nd post, I have the electric working now, no clicking. Now the issue is the engines dying right after looking like they are starting.

I understand the procedures- hitting engine start (beginning with the 2nd engine) then introducing fuel via the tab under the throttle… following video tutorials all goes well but engines start to completely die after several seconds. Boost pumps are on, etc. etc.

Does the ITT increase after you introduce fuel, and does the yellow IGN light overhead illuminate for the engine you’re starting?

N2 is the only gauge that moves after I use the start switch and ITT just not move at all when I introduce fuel. I am starting with the number two engine and the booster on. Any help is appreciated.

To be clear, the IGN light on the Overhead does NOT illuminate when I hit the Start button. After a while N1 goes from 4.7 to zero. The other gauges do not move. The engine never starts. I’m baffled.

It seems like there is no fuel being introduced. But my fuel quantity is good (in the EFB and on the gauges)

Well, I finaslly got it!! I held the starter button for a few seconds instead of just pressing and letting go. Wish somebody had told me!! (I am assuming that was the problem)

Anyway, now I can fly this thing!
