Control Settings - Virpil - CM-3 and VFX Grip - Finally

MSFS Options Settings-Controls-Virpil Outlined-LONG POST - Community Support / Miscellaneous - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

All - The above link are my posts on the settings in this game. I could not figure out where the actual files containing this information for devices is stored, and so could not make backup.
Had to start from scratch since Virpil is not in the games database. The terms in the settings choice are to say the least vague, i.e., Toggle Reverse Thrust; Decrease Throttle, which supposedly will get you the same thing, but it sure works different. Under power management there are possibly 50 choices, and Asobo/MS expect a New Simmer to understand all these choices.
It has taken me two days to get this working, not counting the 24 hours I spent downloading this thing again. I have documented every single choice I have made except the camera ones, as just “aint got a clue”. I have minimal camera settings configured. I think if I hook up my old Logitech 3D pro joystick, it has a profile, and then can copy that one into a test profile, which might hang around. Thinking about that.
Asobo/MS - PLEASE, please do one of three things, slim down the choices in the settings as too many are almost the same thing but work way different.
Second - Separate out all the helicopter settings and have it’s own “Settings Group” since flying a helicopter is a lot of work.
Third-Is it an engine or is it a throttle, as both types of controls exist. But, engines are controlled by “throttles”, and as far as I know have been labeled as such for at least 75 years. The foreign countries may label them differently, but I believe Standarization has been the norm for years. A control yoke and a Stick are considered the same device, even though they are physically different. For Instance, the control stick in a C-17 does the exact same thing as the Control Yoke in a 747, just called something different. Airbus uses a joy stick, and if memory serves, the Pilots and Co-Pilots Joystick are on the sides of the plane, opposite each other, pilots left side pilot area, CPs on right side area. Still just a stick. I personally believe there are just too many choices in the Whole Settings area, and with no documentation (biggest failing of this sim to me), how is a new person to know how to configure a device? Not all of us are aeronautical engineers/engineers or real-world pilots, it needs to be easier for everyone, plus that would make your job programing easier too.

All - Update - Purchased the Virpil Ace Rudder pedals, and tried to setup in MSFS last evening, what a mess it is. I got the toe brakes working fine. No rudder or nose wheel steering setting work so far. I have tried several different choices to no avail. Again the F-14B from DC Designs was my base choice. Still experimenting, but this should not be a “rocket Science Project”, this should be simple, one choice which controls all planes, no, got helicopters in that section, which may be my conflict. It’s so complicated, I believe it puts off “newbies” and they use it for 30 days and do not purchase.

In X-Plane it was a 5 minute job, deleted the old assignments for JS, and moved those to rudder pedals, like mentioned 5 minutes. Tested on F-14D and they worked fine, no I have to learn properly how to use them.

As I mentioned in above, this needs to be simplified, because a “rudder is a rudder” in every since of the word for a plane. I don’t fly helicopters, but, those settings should all be in their own group, again, as stated above. IMHO-X-Plane is just an all around easier sim to setup and fly in. And you can purchase FAA approved hardware/software and it’s then certified as a “real approved simulator”-OK, that costs 10K, but still, MSFS will never be FAA certified, as too much does not work, or is difficult to setup.
