Controls axises are not responding

I got this working. You have to go to controls → settings → select your joystick. Then type in Elevator Axis and set it. It will say scanning and you move your joystick. It will detect it. Type in Aileron Axis and set it. Type in Rudder Axis and set it. Now my joystick works great.

This is not the “solution” to the problem laid out here. The people responding to this topic have done the mapping of axes from their flight sticks, the axes are detected but simply don’t work as controls after mapping.

Amen brother amen.

Winwing Ursa joystick can be mapped, but does not translate to movement of the flight controls in game across the axises. Only mapped buttons work.

So day two of new game no play :ok_hand:

I remember the days Project Cars 2 got rinsed. That release pails in comparison to this total cluster mess that is MSFS2024

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

If you have the same issue, please use the vote button :point_up_2:

With a plain installation of MSFS2024 on Windows 10 with Steam, I see the joystick in MSFS, but no inputs are processed from it.

Reproduction:

  • Go to Controls in the Main Menu → Select the joystick (is present, named correctly) → select Hardware Settings. Move the stick around, expect the input indicator to move. This is not happening.
  • In the sim, using for example the C172, move the stick around, no input is reflected in the aircraft nor is the sim responding to it.

The Joystick (an oldy, Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2) is perfectly recognized:

  • in Windows 10 (used joy.cpl to determine inputs are received by Windows, which is the case
  • is perfectly usable in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

I am having the exact same problem with Thrustmaster AVA base and joystick. Recognised and working in MSFS2020, latest driver and software from Thrustmaster - all working fine except not in MSFS2024 - where the AVA base is on the list but not recognising any inputs from the device whatsoever.

We need a fix because can’t fly.

I voted this up as i was coming to post something similar. The Honeycomb Alpha is recognized and actually does work in the game. However, the sensitivity page you posted does not show any inputs so I cant see its responding to curve changes.

Yes, I have similar issues with two different joysticks. The curve settings don’t work in any case.
Not to mention the whole UI is very poorly designed and unintuitive.

Upvoted as I can’t get Joystik Axis 5 to bind for Elevator trim.

Same problem here with TFlight HOTAS 4 - recognised in Windows with updated drivers but not recognised and totally unresponsive in FS2024. Worked fine in FS2020

Same here, with a Virpil CM2, worked fine with another sims

Ok guys, I have found the solution, you have to configure the axis, in controls, select the joy, flight control surfaces, primary control surfaces, and map the alierons axis and elevator axis, this way it has worked well for me

kind regards

Me too, sidewinder forcefeedback II.trying to configure inputs is to no avail, possibly because the majority of them are digital inputs which are fore use with keys. Why they are not in the keyboard section is anybody’s guess.Iv’e given up for the moment and will continue to use 2020 'till they get their act together…

Man… i also have the Hotas 4. But now it works…

When you use the T.Flight Hotas 4 driver, the FS2024 does not automatically recognize its button and axis assignments. In fact, in the image of the configuration screen, the joystick remains with a “?” at the location of the image. However, when configuring the axes correctly, it responded in the game… phew!!! I followed a little of this topic here… which, although not the same model, worked… the secret is in the correct assignment of the axes. I also leave the image of my configuration screen, which worked…

What is meant by the number 2 there??

That’s actually the trick. However, I’ll leave this issue open. The way it currently is still needs some work. Defaults should be set by Asobo/Microsoft imho.

the number two indicates that we have another comand configure on the same button. Now it’s ok:
