Is any of you guys aware of any of the usual higher quality company suspects that made Convairs for any Sim? I could not find anything, though I haven’t looked too hard I must admit.
But you know a nice CV -2/3/440 or 580… I’d really dig that. And I think 580’s are still around.
Is there no interest or has it just never been made?
Yeah thanks, I thought so. I never saw one for p3d either and was late for the XP 11 train. I only ever found a fact finding thread and that is it.
I already bought the DC-6 but one size down would be cool, also the 580 is turbine driven. Its amazing such iconic aircraft are kind of gone into obscurity…
I took a short flight as a pax on a 440 once. I consider myself very fortunate to have that experience. The memory of the sound on takeoff will never be forgotten! I would love to see one in the sim.
Jan Visser - creator of the vintage VC for Manfred Jahn’s C-47 - was in the early stages of developing a Convair propliner series for P3D. I’m not sure how far he got. And while I can’t speak for him, I doubt he has plans to develop for MSFS. Which is too bad, but he’s earned the right to just enjoy himself.
I’d be all over a good Convair if it ever turned up.
Stranger things have happened but I’d be surprised if we see any Convairs before more well known types from this era of airliner like the Constellation and Comet show up.
Could be worse though, you could have your heart set on a sim representation of the Martin 4-O-4.
Red Wing announced they are doing a Super Constellation. They seem to have a very unusual marketing model for it though. If you want to risk buying it early while it is still being developed (with presumably some features unfinished) you get it cheaper but retain full access to the finished version and updates even though you paid less for it.
