'Copy current latitude/longitude to clipboard' function

,

Users submitting ZenDesk tickets on terrain feature bugs are asked to include the GPS coordinates in their big report.

It would be very useful if there were a ‘copy current latitude/longitude to clipboard’ function that was clearly marked and accessible to assist with these types of bug reports.

This could be part of the ‘ESC’ screen menu at the bottom of the screen, along with save/load flight.

Workaround… Hit the Escape key and save where you are as an flt file. Open that with Notepad and find the [SimVars.0] section. The first two lines there are your position in DMS format. Google DMS to decimal to find any number of online converters if you need one.

If users are being asked to provide information in bug reports, the information should be readily available in the sim.

Especially with XBox users coming next year.

This is now possible if you enable Dev Mode, as @DementedCorn327 explains here:

Yes, this is possible for PC users since they have access to the Dev mode. For the Xbox users, they don’t have access to the Dev mode so they cannot display coordinates, as far as I know.

  • for saving “new places for interesting scenery for missions” and/or for “bugged tiles” etc.
  • While flying you don’t always want to pause and write down the LON/LAT of a place you find interesting or seem bugged for a report

Another way one could do this would be to add the Lon/Lat to the screenshot metadata, as many cellphone apps do. Then you don’t need another command to link to a controller button or keyboard. Take a screenshot & you’re done! Plus, if you save many Lon/Lat’s, you’ll know where each one refers to. :slightly_smiling_face:
