Correct units settings!

In MSFS2024 promblem is same!

I can’t believe they still haven’t fixed this. Showing KPH in the hybrid mode is just laughable

Also very disappointed to see no change here. :pensive:

Sure, the EFB has more granular unit controls - but we need the same in the main interface!

For example, the new activities show wind speed and air temperature on the explanation pages:

  • US = knots and °F
  • Hybrid = km/h and °C
  • Metric = (didn’t check - assume km/h and °C also)

I just want to use knots and °C together!!! Why is it so difficult!? It was asked on so many Dev Q&As but the understanding always seems to be missing.

The only small saving grace is that ATC will read out QNH in millibars even with “US System” selected for units, due to a new ATC option. But it’s not enough.

It seems they left out what was seen in the Aplha. Strange and very disappointing indeed. Still at the moment there are bigger things to fix but this was one that should of been sorted in 2020 and just carried forward.

Interesting; how did it look in the alpha? I missed it as the e-mail went into junk mail and I didn’t see in time.

Agreed it’s not a priority issue, but definitely needs addressing at some point. We’ll continue to bring up at the future Q&As, no doubt.

Scroll further up in this topic or search. I posted a screenshot of the menu.

Already posted once in this thread, but I’ll put it here again for visibility. Just give us an “ICAO” option with the units of measurement s shown below. It may not be correct for every location, but would be a vast improvement on what we have now.

That’s not what’s needed. It’s more limiting than what we already have. No Metres for altitude, No F for temp, No mb/hpa for barometric pressure and fuel quantity is not even listed. A proper listing I’ll get behind but certainly not this.

Whoops, that wasn’t mean to be a single solution, even though I guess that’s what it kind of sounded like. (I was thinking of it as more a stop-gap to a permanent solution.) I agree a UI with selectable units for each field is the ultimate aim, though even the Alpha UI posted above is missing some critical measurements.

Thanks, but that’s the EFB’s menu, isn’t it? I already saw the options in there (as mentioned in my post just a few above yours), but sadly that’s isolated to the EFB and not the sim as a whole. I thought you had seen some new unit options in the alpha which didn’t make the release version (got my hopes up!)

WorkingTitle made the EFB and knew exactly what was needed by the community, but Asobo have so far missed the opportunity to make improvements here, despite the question being asked at the Q&As and the many promises “to look into it”. I wouldn’t mind if I felt confident that changes would eventually come, but if they couldn’t make it a QoL improvement in 2020, will it ever come to 2024? I hope so but have my doubts.

I wasn’t sure where it was. If it’s EFB that’s not the best location as you say but do they not do what we would need? I haven’t had a chance to investigate yet . Getting access to the sim and have it not freeze is still an issue for me right now.

I believe they only affect the flight planning, fuel planning etc. that are available in the EFB itself. No relation to the sim settings used by the aircraft, menu interface or ATC.

You can access the EFB planner from a browser outside the sim, as I discovered yesterday. Just sign in with your game account:

https://planner.flightsimulator.com/

It has the same unit settings as the one in the sim, or some of them at least. I haven’t had much time to explore it due to being out for much of the weekend.
