ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: Windows event view log errors related to crash of couatl_MSFS2024.exe. Th sim itself does not crash and appears to run normally.

I can confirm this issues occurs on (2) separate systems both running the same latest build versions of Windows 11. The second system is an Acemagic Tank 03 mini PC i7 12700H, RTX 3060 (GA106m) (12GBVRAM), 32GB DDR5, 2TB nVME, 4TB Crucial nVME

The following are from Windows event logs: (This was with MSFS 2020 and all were back to back in event log.) I have a feeling the issue lies with the .NET. I run the .NET repair tool successfully and also ran DISM.exe commands w/admin rights with success.

Did anyone fixed this in some way? I got the same error C0000005 in my Event Logs and I dropped the bunch in CoPilot and it says it crashes because it tries to write to memory while it doesn’t have access to it.

I tried running it in admin but in the end everything I do makes Couatl crash. Yesterday I ran Couatl without flight simulator and after about an hour it was using 51GB of memory. I know the creator of GSX says it’s all user error and Couatl is super stable so I wondered if there are actual users being able to fix this.

No. The issue seems related to a .NET driver. I see the .NET driver error just before the Couatl64_MSFS.exe. This is with both 2020 and 2024. The following is what I see just before the Couatl64…

That seems a different error, as far as I looked into it, couatl doesn’t use .net at all. I just checked my event log but no .net runtime errors here. What I notice and think is weird, sometimes in the log it’s couatl is spelled with a capital and sometimes without, strange.

I was aware the the .NET isn’t of any use but apparently it can be called into play indirectly at times. There is a good read here on the FSDT forum regarding this…

UPDATE: running Couatl_MSFS2024 in windows 8 compatibility mode has fixed my issue

Do you have .NET installed? You need .NET Desktop v8.0.17 x64 to run the livery manager, which is part of the installer and it´s launched automatically at the last step of the recent updates. Using the latest .NET Desktop v8.0.22 also works.

Without that the livery manager won´t work, which is part of the aplication configuration process, so I understand that step is needed. Try to run the livery manager at least once (available at the GSX configuration menu in the FSDT Installer desktop aplication). Ground services liveries are loaded when GSX runs in game.

Have had v8.0.22 x64 for some time now.

Running Couatl64_MSFS2024.exe in Windows 8 compatibility mode resolved this.
