Could the old [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask tweak actually work for VR in 2021?

Let me start by saying I was and remain extremely skeptical, and wonder if this outcome can be explained by the placebo effect, or some other confluence of factors that I have not considered.

That being said, by setting an affinity mask in the flightsimulator.cfg file, I have been able to increase the in sim VR settings to Ultra/High (except Texture Super Sampling, Reflections and Bloom which are all off), and maintain an extremely smooth VR experience with the same 30 - 45 FPS depending on the scenery scenario/aircraft and weather, that I was getting with my previous lower settings.

I am using a Vive Pro HMD, steamVR beta 1.14 and Nvidia 446.14. I have a 2080ti and an 8600k with Hyperthreading enabled. Other than changing the in game settings, the only change I have made is to add:

[JOBSCHEDULER]
AffinityMask=1532

In Steam VR, I have motion smoothing off and Super Sampling set to 120%. The in Game VR settings are:

Can anybody with similar hardware confirm if these results can be replicated?

Just one question… What is the logic behind using “1532”?

The 8600K is a 6 core processor with HT, so 12 threads in total.

The binary conversion of 1532 is b 0101 1111 1100.

Why are you selecting those threads and not different ones?

I am asking this because people with different processors should adjust the affinity values according to their processors.

Have you confirmed FS2020 is indeed using only the cores you’ve setup this way (using task manager for example)?
