You are wrong. The guy wants a quality product that is on par with the default models, in terms of geometry and textures. That’s what everyone who understands wants from the beginning. And then of course the system. If you can not see the difference, then you’ll be satisfied and the models from FS 2004. This is your problem.
And?
Cowan is a One Man Team.
The Default Helicopters have the money and resources of Microsoft behind them.
Things don’t always come out the way people expect.
The majority is extremely satisfied with Cowan’s products, so I think I’ll take their opinions over one guy crying about texture work.
The MD500E is so much better than the stock helicopters. The Airbus As350B3 or H125 will be a purchase the first day. I can wait for the updates, the MD500E is great in VR, love the Magnum PI livery!!
I think this one and the Bell have the same sensitivity and responsiveness issues:
-
With default controllers sensitivity cyclic produces insane outputs. You can actually perform a full roll below 100 kts by just using a 50% cyclic bank. On the other hand a 1% collective increase turns into a skyrocketing climb.
-
Collective decrease by less than a 5% produces an instant bank. This is not realistic at all. The effect needs to be there but it has to be reduced a lot
-
Pedals are not effective as soon as you have some speed. Even full pedal is not enough to compensate helicopter yaw tendency below 60 kts
-
Helicopter banks a lot. You find that a 30º bank is not enough to compensate helicopter bank tendency when trying to maintain a levered and straight flight with no wind.
I like both of them but their dynamics and controls need an urgent fix.
Cheers
Cowan is not a one-man team. And if you’re still talking about Microsoft’s money, then you probably have no idea how this industry works at all. I’m sorry, but I’m not going any further with you.
I don’t really care either way. I’m just getting a kick out of the type of people who have a meltdown over a letter on a cyclic being the wrong shade of white.
We as human beings focus way too much on the negative.
Cockpit textures having issues that will be fixed, (which buddy up above seems to think isn’t going to happen, for some reason) aren’t an issue when “certain” devs don’t even include a cockpit…but are still allowed to sell on the Marketplace?
But anyway, I’m going to buy the 500E, AS350 amd whatever else Cowan throws out because I enjoy his products.
I don’t understand why you are arguing. No negativity. Cowan makes great helicopters, I really like it, I like it, that’s a fact. I only fly Cowan helicopters. I’m a fan! I have bought all the helicopters so far.
The essence of the forum is to talk and discuss comments about the helicopter. This is correct.
The other forum members described that there are errors and problems. They did this very well and I do it myself. Problems need to be talked about because then they will never be fixed.
The developer must take into account the comments and wishes of the community. We paid for a product, we report problems. That’s natural. The problem is that the indicated errors are not fixed even after 2-3 weeks.
I don’t want to hurt you, but what are you talking about if you haven’t bought the helicopter yet? How can you form an opinion?
Guys - stop it or go in PM.
Please, fly more and have fun
No Sr. That’s not the way it should be. If any developer releases something that they charge money for they should fix any issues before they release another product. Just because Asobo doesn’t follow this philosophy (worst offender I have ever seen) doest mean everyone should. I love the Cowan 500E, but I expect it to be as close to 100 percent as it can be. Releasing another product that probably won’t be finished isn’t good practice. People paid money for the First 2 helicopters. Spend the time to make them close to finished and then move on to new releases.
Seems developers these days expect the end user to be a paying beta tester. Hey that’s fine. Just charge a early development price (50%) and not full retail. Make everyone aware that this will take months to finalize… Then people won’t be able to complain and will only have themselves to blame if they are dissatisfied.
Now do the auto industy!
American auto industry is the worst. Japanese at least try.
Thanks for your words.
I didn’t bought the MD 500 E, because the B206 isn’t finished too.
I will also stay away from any Cowan Simulations products until I see a progress here.
Just vote with your money.
The B206 looks good, but lacks a lot of other points.
Ha! That’s a really good take.
Alright, y’know what? I want to apologize for my earlier comments.
Yesterday’s Marketplace Update proved there’s an issue, not just with developers, but also Microsoft/Asobo.
The screenshot above are the FOURTH and FIFTH helicopter release from MSCENERY.
All five of their helicopters have been released in the same amount of time since Cowan Simulations submitted his 500E to the Marketplace.
Despite our personal opinions on Cowan’s products, it’s astonishing that these…Dollar Store toys from MSCENERY are getting approved and put out no problem.
What if other devs want to put out helicopters, but MSCENERY has already got every heli under the sun on the MP? They’ll pass on developing because “there’s one already out”, but it’s from MSCENERY?
But, with your criticism towards Cowan are definitely understandable now. Again, I apologize, but compared to MSCENERY, Cowan’s level of quality is second to none.
If anything, the bigger issue is MSCENERY clogging up the helicopter space in the Sim with their garbage.
Yeah saturation is a huge issue. It’s like the App Stores on Apple and Google Play. Can’t see for all the trash that’s in the listings and more every day.
However - playing “devils advocate” - we don’t know what is going on behind the scenes. Maybe the Cowan product (and others that were submitted ages ago and still not live) had some issues that were requested and sent back to the developer by the review team to change, so they go to the bottom of the queue again after resubmitting? And if that happens again with the resubmitted version it goes to the bottom again.
Or, the “good” products have asked for localisation and it’s THAT that takes the (extra) time?
I find it hard to believe the system is not just a simple queue based on submission date. It would be far too complex and subjective to do it any other way. Maybe they have some favourites who knows. But I can’t see MScenery being one of them!
I’m thinking of buying a chopper. The MD 500 series are a personal favorite yet I don’t own any sim variants.
In the last few months, we’ve gained a bunch of bundled and commercial offerings.
I’m looking for opinions and comparisons to just buy one (now, perhaps a second later) from:
CowanSim 206B3
FlyInside B-206
CowanSim MD 500E
Got Friends Mini-500
I realize these are different rotorcraft but I just want something that feels realistic and is fun to fly. I do appreciate VRS simulation if not overdone, adding some challenge and care to descent. Posting here, though it could be it’s own topic, as I was waiting for this MD 500 product release, now I’m not so sure given the choices. I also figured folks here likely own multiple choppers.
As a side note, I don’t find flying choppers low in MSFS always great as the scenery can be very hit and miss. That’s part of the reason to invest in fewer rotorcraft than fixed wing.
Thoughts folks?
There are currently three realistic helicopters on the market. These helicopters are suitable, I recommend them, you can buy them:
CowanSim 206B3
FlyInside B-206
CowanSim MD 500E
It is important to know that these helicopters also need repair. They are not perfect. Unfortunately, Cowan is also in a hurry and does not finish the products. Cowan, Flyinside promises continued support. We’ll see if they keep their word. There are many modeling 3D bugs, bugs in the cockpit, and even the flight dynamics need improvement. I hope the development of Asobo will improve many things. We’ll see.
Currently the only accurate one is the FlyInside B206. The others all use asobo’s native model where throttle is broken, there is no max speed or retreating blade stall, the slip ball is all over the place, torque is jumpy, and no VRS.
I have purchased all of them and they are all good but my fav is the Cowansim 500E.
There is of course a queue and they want to spread out the releases, so cant put out to many choppers each week, and mscenery has most probably sent in god knows how many choppers at the same time and now they will pop up 2 a week until they run out, and THATS when the cowan 500 will be out!
They must have had a lot of choppers made and just been waiting for the FM to drop and then submitted all at once!
Lets hope the 500 comes next week!
