A large part of this forum board is about “complaints”, Asobo even has a dedicated section for them with subsections and a voting system. Even on their livestreams, Asobo addresses complaints. And I have never seen Asobo insult their customers over something that Asobo needs to fix. OMG!

Of course, I am a champion at complaining, the thing is you judge him for getting upset, dont, its very hard not getting upset if people complain over what you do, praise anyone not getting upset instead, thats the hard part!

but it just concernes me… We have had the MD V2 Update and nothing else. The adding things with the W&B screen is getting real old, there should be an EFB.

Yes. Don’t blame the sim when others have figured it out and their helos fly properly. The lean to the left breaks the sim for me. It’s not realistic at all. People have to edit the cfg file to mitigate it but it doesn’t fix it fully. A little lean in a landing or takeoff is fine but at 110 knots it shouldn’t. If you try to correct with cyclic you can’t hold a straight line. Hpg is king at this point. I will buy all of their releases because they refine and update them regularly.
Cowan, why don’t you fix your previous releases in a timely manner??? The sim is capable of a helicopter flying correctly. Please just update your fleet to fly correctly.
The v2 500 update still hasn’t fixed the flight model/lean and that’s the biggest issue for me.
I want to get it but Cowan history of no updates deters me. Does it lean left like all the others? Can you fly a straight line without it leaning left or right?
That’s the thing. Analogy: If you go to a restaurant and the waitress doesn’t come over and serve you promptly that’s unacceptable. You complain and she comes over and said wait let me tell you how the kitchen is backed up . Also we are short handed.
I don’t care about any of that. I care about the experience and the money I spent. If Cowan has issues fixing their products they should stop spending time releasing new products and spend the limited time they have on fixing there previous releases. Their rep would be much better and they would make it up in the long run. Also I sent an email to them and said if it’s a money thing charge more but make a complete product.
Well there has just been a major update for the 500E, and similar updates for the H125 and B222 have been announced by Cowansim on Facebook.
I agree that the left lean of the 500E v2 is very pronounced and annoying. In my first flights with the R66 I did not notice anything similar, but I have not thoroughly tested it yet.
Yeah this is one thing i hate about cowan’s helicopters.
Bought yhis a few hours after it was released, on my first flight i got it started and raised collective i wasn’t expecting first flight to be good usually it’s seeing which way it want to translate or pitch but to my surprise i made a pretty perfect take off
it is extremely stable
I didn’t notice any skid low tendencies at all, if it was there is was so slight i never noticed

Can anyone tell me, is it normal when flying choppers to feel like you are not flying in a straight line? I honestly am a complete novice at helicopters, but I do love them. I have bought this despite my misgivings and have to say I really like it, but what I have said still stands and by buying it I am a bit of a hypocrite but hey ho what can I say.
Anyway in most choppers I just feel like I am not flying straight, I feel like my chopper is flying sideways and I feel like I have to tilt the chopper sideways to stay straight.
I have the controls set up as per the manual I am using the Assistance in the sim but still I feel like I am flying lob sided, in all choppers. Is this normal IRL.
I have to say in VR it feels so much easier and more rewarding to fly choppers, but I dont always want to do that.
Please help me, what am I doing wrong. I know/hear/read the Flight Model IN THE SIM is not fleshed out but I watch some videos and people are flying this like a pro. I am using the TCA Thrustmeter Airbus stick, nothing else and I have all the sensitivities set as per the manual, its a custom profile in the sim I have set up.
Yeah it kinda is normal even planes don’t actually fly straight depending on the wind. If you have a crosswind it will naturally want to weather vane into it so you end up flying crabbed exactly as a plane would. You can also trim the helicopter to take some of your lateral movement out. Helicopters will also naturally want to drift left or right this is called “translational tendency” and is due to the tail rotor though this is less noticeable in the cruise it is more of an issue when picking up/setting down and in the hover
That’s the problem with the default helo model though, you have to keep it banked while cruising. Sure maybe a little is required in real life, but of all the real life helicopters videos I’ve watched from in the cockpit, none are flying with a constant 5+ degree bank.
Need to be careful i infer’d the original post not to be about the infamous skid low but about being offset to direction of travel which is normal in crosswind conditions, even fixed wing aircraft will be offset (Crabbed) and require opposite bank in this condition,
that’s why we have both heading and track.
the infamous skid low condition is disputable it is a real life phenomena on helicopters but usually doesn’t happen in the cruise, i haven’t seen it in the cruise on most for a while now or perhaps i just got used to it ( apart from MD500 v2 which is bad)
A buddy of mine got the R66 and I flew it. Left skid down when you go over 80 knots. As soon as you give it more than I’d say 70% collective it leans just like the rest of Cowans releases. This is why I’m not buying their stuff anymore. Really unacceptable at this point. Other developers don’t have this issue. Cowan should stop everything else and fix the lean on all helos. Also add a tablet interface to all models. At least then the aircraft will be enjoyable to fly.
I realize they said they weren’t finished when released but the 500E has been out for 1 year!!! That’s plenty of time to get it fixed and update with tablet interface. Hpg did like 30 updates last year on the 145 and every update made it better and more realistic. Yeah it was $15 more than Cowan add ons but seriously the value you get from Hpg is amazing.
Cowan tell you what… I shouldn’t have to but I will pay you $15 more per add on I own if you fix the lean and add a tablet interface.
