Cowansim H125 released

Not up to their standards at all, this one in particular.

Hmmm. I don’t actually see a tachometer but I can hear the rpm increase and it flies well. Torque gauge works.

Something weird with the center of gravity, i guess.

empty_weight_CG_position = 0.199,0.5,-0 ; Position of airplane empty weight CG relative to reference datum (FEET), z, x, y

0.5 seems to much for x axis
when i change this value it’s better.

try with this:

empty_weight_CG_position = 0.199,0.1,0 ; Position of airplane empty weight CG relative to reference datum (FEET), z, x, y
static_bank_angle = -3 ; degrees , neutral cyclic input angle
cyclic_bank_centre = 0

but… it’s the first release, expect a first update soon, as he usualy do.

Wow, thank you so much! I applied your changes and had the first enjoyable flight in the H125!!!

The NR in the small gauge in the upper right should go up to just under 400 (~386) when the throttle is set to fly. You can also use a joystick axis set to helicopter throttle. That works for me too although the throttle grip in the virtual cockpit is not animated.

when I set the throttle to high manually with the mouse at 60%, nothing changes. TLI screen doesn’t appear.

on mine, the rpm doesn’t increase.

Review from CGAviator, who is apparently a fast jet pilot IRL.

Just got this earlier today. Really enjoying it. The modelling is superb. I know some people may think the price seems rather a lot for what on the surface of it is quite a basic chopper but you do get a lot for your money. If like me you like a spot of roll playing in the sim there’s a ton of options here. If you like the Hype H145 this is a very good companion chopper.

I was looking forward to this release since the H125 is a very commonly used utility chopper world wide. So it realistically fits in a lot of different environments.

As for the flight model. I’m not in a position to say how accurate it may or may not be. It seems pretty similar to the Bell 407. Both take a fair degree of skill to fly properly in the sim. Neither have the sense of weight the H145 has but thats realistic I guess.

One observation I’d make is the interior avatar models are really top tier, very well modelled but it would be nice to have some specific ones for various environments, such as wearing out door mountaineering type clothing more suitable for mountain flying.

So far it has been a decent purchased but having owned all three MSFS from Cowansim, I would love to see improvements with the rotary blade animation. I use external camera and this is very vital.

I think Cowasim really needs to reduce the input sensitivity on all their helicopters a lot because using game“s default sensitivity profiles, which work well for official helicopters and other fixed wing aircraft, allows you to perform an aerobatic roll by just moving the cyclic some milimiters. See how small inputs turn into small changes as well in the following video, but you still need to move it maybe 1 or 2 centimeters:

H145 had the same issue during some versions till they reduced their inputs as well. Such semi aerobatic capabilities with such small inputs are not realistic at all. The real bird can be unstable but this does not mean it has to be Red Bull“s Bolkow.

Cheers

How do you fly this thing without a trimmer function? I wanted to fly a longer distance, but have to keep my hands on the stick pushed forward all the time…

The H125 uses the longitudinal and lateral rotor trim bindings, like the default helicopters in MSFS. But it is still really hard to trim it for stable cruise flight.

Yeah you can use the lateral and longitudinal trim bindings to help keep it stable. Once you get the forward momentum going and the trims dialled in its much less of a handful. I can take my hand off the stick and it’ll happily keep stable flight.

I took the springs and cams out of my stick so it doesn’t return to center. I put the stick where I want it& it stays there till I move it

Tried these settings: now the H125 flies really better!! I’ll keep these new settings until next update.

Wonderful! It’s working very well. Do you know if the "set rotor trim (lat/long) settings have any effect, and how to use them? I tried to use it like a force-trim but it seemed to release the trim instead..

Yes the rotor trim lat/long works. I have them bound to a hat switch on my hotas. Force trim is supposed to reset the trim to centre but I don’t really use that.

Force trim don’t reset the trim but lock the trim where you moved your ciclyc.
This help to maintein the stable position of heli with hands out. then you can fine tune with beep trim.
Actualy only the H145 is simulating this important function (and many others like SAS). In my opinion is the only choppy that value thre money; the others, for the moment, are joke.
Cowan should stop to push new heli every mounth and working seriously only in one adding important feauters.
