The only thing to watch on longer flights is the fuel level in the main tanks. When those get low, you’ll need to engage the transfer pumps to move fuel from the reserves into the mains. This is identical to the DA62, and like the stock plane, the switches are behind the fuel control valves in the center console.
Seems like the answer is no. They said on Discord they are aiming at realism for flight school students, not immersive features for simmers. I also would love visible passengers, external static objects, a tablet. But I respect that they’re making the product they want to make and it’s terrific as it is.
No EFB is a good thing by me. Manipulating anything in the MSFS virtual cockpit is a royal pain. Camera movement particularly.
The dev has also said no EFB further up in this thread.
Well said @kengou1 . I too would love to see passengers and external objects. I don’t understand how they can say “we want to stick to realism” but then are happy to simulate a heavy DA-42 with no passengers visible. Well in the real aircraft it’s VERY visible when the aircraft is heavy because it is full of passengers, so why not show it in the sim?
But as for the ongoing cry from the crowds for an EFB; That one I can’t understand. Like aircraft can no longer be flown without it? And why a tablet EFB if you’ve got a G1000 right in front of you, isn’t that a rather glorified EFB by itself?!
I do absolutely agree with this, my point for an EFB was meant in general to have a easy and intuitive way to work with things like state saving, engine damage, fuel and weights and stuff like chocks and covers which do not apply to this aircraft. If this could be done from the G1000, then perfect. Super immersive.
Good morning, didn’t fly for a long time. Since one month I am excessively hitting the air again. And of course I got that plane here because the DA62 is one if my favourites and this one comes quite close to it.
I didn’t fly it yet but I did so yesterday on occasion with the 62 which is the latest version of the improvement mod, 1.0 I guess. And I noticed one thing that concerned me: when trying to flare, the aircraft tends to come down nose first like a stone. There seems to be absolutely no ground effect. Is this a normal behavior of this type, also for the DA42?
I have to say I flew the Black Square Bonanza and PA28 for the last two weeks so maybe I had a fair share of realism and tte difference to one of the Asobo planes is now more than subtle. But this shocked me a bit.
Or maybe my skill progression evolved and I have a completely different feeling now than before…
Anyway, is this a normal behavior of this type? I will test the 42 today to see if it does the same.
Have had 2 days and a handful of flights and I must say, WOW! It’s up there with the Comanche for me. Is great with a Tobii!
Thanks COWS team! It truly is the ultimate multi-engine experience!
an EFB is missing, sorry, if anyone does not understand, go check out the A2A bird what they did.
What we have in the sim generally are not EFB’s in the true sense they are just settings tablets. So just another way of interfacing with options really. Seen the A2A, Black square and others and not that impressed. Bit gimmicky really. I much prefer not having them at all. A nice flying aircraft with realistic systems like the DA42 is much more important than the bling on a tablet but to each their own.
I don’t miss it at all in the DA42. In the Comanche I feel like I need it in order to monitor the cylinders etc. but the FADEC diesel engine in the DA42 is much less work and easier to operate.
The thing I want to be improved the most in the DA42 is the G1000. Custom pages for weight and balance, checklists etc. like in the SR22T would be awesome (unless the real DA42 G1000 lack these pages)
I agree. The only thing I like an EFB for is weight and fuel loading, and stuff like chocks and covers. I hate the default MSFS weight and balance screen.
For payload, yeah i see where a tablet come in, but only because the msfs menu is broken.
My goal is for the plane to provide feedback on whats happening and not to rely on a tablet.
In V1.1, the engines will vibrate the plane when someone is wrong (damage or failures of some kind)
V1.1 will also simulate each piston on startup. Each combination event will kick the prop and plane. Though being FADEC, if the glows are warm, it will start up anyway.
The DA40 too, each cylinder has its own air mass, fuel mass, atomisation, air temperature, cylinder temperature etc etc. Those all factor into how much fuel you need and how strong the start will be.
No tablet will be needed as the starting is pretty simple once you’ve learned it,and in msfs starters dont cost money if you hold them for more than 10 seconds. If you flood the cylinders, you can always dry them out and try again
There will also be an easy start option where no priming is required.
I hope we can get the sounds right so you can hear everything
Purchased today after being on the fence to find a modern glass twin. Great little plane with fantastic sounds but the ‘right click’ zoom doesn’t appear to work in VR which makes it incredibly difficult to use the G1000. Am I missing something here or does this plane not have it implemented? Any VR users have the same issue?
Yup, the same for me. The DLSS swap to a higher version 3.7 helped me a lot with the clarity of the screens, and I just have to lean forward to get it operated.
I have 3.7 already. Has the dev mentioned if this in the works to be fixed on a future update? Literally every other plane I have has a working zoom. Great plane otherwise.
Sorry but im not sure what the right click zoom is.
i borrowed some VR stuff a few months ago and i could zoom with the mouse no problem, then it wasn’t possible one update.
I dont have the headset anymore
That’s a shame to hear. For such a well modelled plane to have broken native VR functionality, I hope the opportunity arises for you to work the magic and find the solution.
Hey guys. V1.1.1 is out.
The plane completely redone with new engine and flight model, visuals, G1000 checklist, custom engine page failures and more
What an update! Great running through the checklist, and then being presently surprised by an even more fluid takeoff, complete with excellent turbo sounds(Thanks Boris!).
I had to redo the turbo simulation because i realised the sounds (and turbo speeds) didnt match the recordings.
