I don’t hear anything at around 0:55 in that video. Are you sure it’s not your speakers making the crackling/popping sound?

Have same issue with my 12th gen, only fix for now and since su9 is to disable my E cores.

I clearly hear it in 2 different devices (PC and iPhone) with 2 different headsets, maybe you have listened it with the speakers?

Are you CPU main thread limited? Just thinking audio stutter might occur if your CPU is at 100%???

Maybe also update your audio drivers?

Maybe look and change some of your audio settings in the sim or in windows settings (e.g. turn off audio enhancements etc etc)

Yep, but I have checked everything with the dev mode fps counter and everything looks fine in green and totally stable (I have FPS locked at 30 because I feel it good enough for me, could easily run it at around 60 fps but don’t want to force my PC and get any ocasional stutter or something)

About a month ago I had audio issues (stuttering every so often) too and, yes, it was quite annoying and immersion breaking.

Thankfully the problem has gone away for now. I updated audio drivers and did a lot of other optimising ‘stuff’. Don’t know whether this really did much good but for now things are okay.

I really hope that you can get it sorted because i’ve been there and found it immersion breaking.

Odd. I played back the video with a headset on PC and there was no popping sounds for me either, even at full volume.

Same here, unfortunate of us but I’m glad I’m not the only one. Have been fiddling with drivers, bios updates, different sound settings, tried recording through OBS and it was recorded so can be sure it’s not a jack/cable/headset problem. Are you all with this problem using the onboard mobo audio by any chance?

I’m on Xbox X and have that issue for a long time . Doesn’t matter if I’m using headphones, tv audio or home theater. Plane also doesn’t matter.

Sometimes it’s non existent and sometimes it’s unbearable. On SU10 beta it’s less of an issue but I still hear it from time to time. For Xbox it seems to coincide with performance lag but I’m not 100% certain.

I would call it the “crackle of impending death”, because usually when you hear it a crash to desktop is right around the corner. It seems that the crackles occur for the same reason that the crashes occur, and therefore crackling is a warning of an imminent crash.

I had this issue when my soundcard sample rate was set to 48 kHz when using MSFS.
Setting the soundcard sample rate back to 44.1 kHz solved the issue for me.
You’ll have to consult your soundcard support docs if you’re not sure how to change this setting within windows.

One thing to add to this discussion was that, I had crackling sound and popping sound coming from my recorded flights. It doesn’t happen during the flight, but I can hear it when I finished the flight and replayed the video recording.

I found that my Windows volume is the root cause. At the time, I set my Windows volume at 100%. And I manage the loudness through my speakers volume instead. But when I reduce my Windows volume down to 50%, and I increase my speaker volume 2x the initial volume to get the same loudness. The crackling and popping sounds disappear from my recordings. So maybe give that a try. Reduce your windows volume to somewhere under 80%, and compensate through your speakers/headphone volume instead. And see if it disappears.

That sounds reasonable, it was quite a while back when I read it but Microsoft themselves recommended 85% tops in Windows after which clarity is not guaranteed. The quality of mainboard components and circuitry can vary immensely.

I have FS2020 on XBOX series X. Lately I have experienced static and popping noises through my speakers while flying. I performed a Power Cycle of my XBOX and then did a flight with clear skies. Not one static or popping noise was heard. Later the same day I did another flight with the same airplane only I had weather set to “Few Clouds”. During the flight I encountered a couple of pops but it was not bad. I read online that performing a Power Cycle of the xbox at least once a week seems to help the system clear the cache and other weird anomalies that tend to accumulate. Hope someone finds this information useful.
