Crash to desktop (CTD) as soon as loading screen completes. Can exiting during a store download corrupt something?

Been happening consistently since I exited the game in the middle of a content pack being downloaded.

The other day I started installing some of the new world updates but my plans changed and I had to shut down the sim pretty immediately. Ever since then when I launch the game it opens, loads, then crashes. Never see the main menu, just the loading bar completing and crash.

Anything I can do about this? The same thing happens when I try to start in safe mode. Also tried restarting the PC.

Using a RTX4080, ryzen 9 5900X, windows 10

You could try and repair from the Xbox app.

I’m using the Steam version, I don’t see it in the xbox app

Hmm, ok I tried it and I launched the game and this time I got the install manager screen with a 24gb patch to download? Seems promising, better than just crashing. Gonna let it download and see how it goes. Thanks

Welp, the patch download completed, went to loading screen, loaded…and crashed again :frowning:

Yes, I renamed it and created a new, empty Community folder. It still crashes.

I have in the past, but not recently. It was an Oculus Pro headset

This could definitely be related. I will dig into it more, thanks.

Drivers are installed but haven’t been updated in a while since I haven’t had the headset plugged in. I don’t see an Oculus app on my PC though.

Same issue below. Removing the Oculus software fixed his issue.

Disable the OpenXR Toolkit and wait for fix.

That was exactly the fix for me. How annoying, after I had reinstalled all of fs2020, and third party apps. It was a simple tick of the box. Thx for the solution
