I have become totally frustrated with trying to get Microsoft Flight Simulater 2020 working on my new computer. I have a new CyberpowerPC computer with the following spec.
Microsoft Windows 11 Pro
Processor 123th Gen intel(R) Core i9-12900kf, 3187 Mhz, 16 Core(s)
Motherboard Z690 CARBON Wifi
32 Meg DDR5 memory
NVIDIA RTX 3090 Video Card
1TB WD Blue SN550 Series PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD
2TB WD SSD Data Drive
My problem is the game keeps crashing to the desktop after I click FLY. I have no addons in my community folder. I have tried increasing my Virtual memory. I have tried checking “Disable Fullscreen Optimizations” on the MicrosoftFlightSim.exe executible. I am really coming to the end of ideas other than to uninstall the sim, delete the Official directory etc. and try reinstalling.
Would anyone have any suggestions. Has anyone had any problems with the sim on Windows 11 Pro.
I am stumped because if my system won’t run this game, what will!
Note: one thing I have noticed is that the ATC starts to stutter before it crashes. I have checked and I do have the English Sound pack installed. Also, I have noticed that the sim checks for updates almost every time I run it. Is that normal
Check to see what NVIDIA driver you have; the latest driver has been causing the sim to crash. This is on NVIDIA end and unfortunately, we need to wait until they release the next driver update
I run the sim with Windows 11 no problem. In fact it’s been runnng very well at the moment. As everyone else is saying… don’t use the latest nvidia drivers (497.09)
I’m using 471.68 - should you decide to install this (or any other drivers) always go for the advanced installation and select “clean installation” (or something like that) that way it removes the previous drivers first) also I wouldn’t bother installing the GeForce Experence as this will want you to download the latest drivers.
