ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I have every single assistance set to OFF. I took off in the Texan, moments later its engine died. In my attempt to land in a field, I crashed the aircraft. Upon doing so, I was presented with a “Back on track” dialog box and the aircraft was placed back into the air at an earlier point in the flight. I do not have a setting to control this functionality nor do I want it.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
T-6 Texan

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
I have noted this twice – once in the Texan as mentioned and once when I was trying to use the Airship and it crashed itself repeatedly on the runway.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Turn off all assistance
  2. Crash an aircraft
  3. Note dialog box and “rewinding” of flight

If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.

What peripherals are you using, if relevant:

• yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• I have found this functionality a bit counterintuitive and not actually helpful; if I land too hard it doesn’t put me back at a reasonable place to retry the landing, but rather seems to put me in an unpredictable inconsistent state (I have to double-check my gear and flaps and throttle etc) and an unpredictable position somewhere near the airfield, but not where I’d expect to be able to recover the landing.

The best case scenario from there is that I manage to power up and go around; the common case is I crash again ten seconds later.

I have had the same issue or better observation once shortly after a faulty landing with the fenix A320. Because it was my first flight in MSFS 2024 with the fenix I thought it was an internal compilation error and did sent a bug report. Additionally the Flight path visualization was incidentally set to on.

I also experience this but it has one usefulness - lately when I start flight in Cabri G2, after removing the blade tip protectors and using the ctrl-e auto start my ASI (air speed indicator) is not working, but is magically fixed by the “Back on Track” (after I set down a bit too hard)

This needs an option to activate or deactivate it.

• if you crash while taxiing it may respawn you in the air, which is very confusing

this is why I am here but that is crazy hitting your brakes and causing a wheelie then getting spawned in the air wow, I hope you or anyone will post the fix good luck everyone and let the games begin lol

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged

I think I have found the fix “Turn OFF Damages” let me know if this works for you

be sure to check out our weekly Cessna Sunday event on the Events Calendar

See you there Mr Pizza w/EasternHops

Won’t that just make it fail to detect crashes?

I’ve had those off since Day 1 and I had the same issue, which is why I wrote this up.

hummm well I took off with a Cessna 172 and 500 feet I nosed over and bam it respawned in the air when I turned off the damages and took off again and nosed over like I did before it stayed on the ground ill keep an out out to see if I span back in the air but so far I stayed on the ground

But no “You crashed” message, session over, right?

I have yet to see such a message as we have in 2020.

This has been noted as by design in MSFS 2024. We encourage a Wishlist thread on this if you’d like this feature modified. Thank you!
