Hello,
hope I understand his report about PC reset, then HW problem looks like. It can be really disk with RAM and CPU at data access, at some time with huge overtemp or other type of problem. To me some kind of data access…
Please excuse my late reply and thank you for your interest!
That’s the right description, it is a rebooting, not just a crash.
And that’s why I don’t have any error code or a crash report.
I had hoped for the last few days that I had found the problem, but I was wrong. I have replaced the drivers for my Thrustmaster rudder, but unfortunately no change. I have done everything I have found here or in other forums in the last 4 weeks. Repaired MSFS, repaired Windows, updated Nvidia drivers and then switched back to the best version. Emptied the community folder and any other suggestions that make sense. Just everything, but honestly I can’t take anymore.
The PC is only 6 months old! As you can see in my first post, it should be able to handle the MSFS. Everything worked perfectly before the SU 15. In the beginning the rebooting happened only from time to time, now it’s more and more often. I really don’t know what else I can do. I don’t have the strength anymore either.
When I was much younger, I enjoyed traveling a lot. Now, for health reasons, I can no longer do that at all. So the MSFS is the only way for me to continue traveling this wonderful planet. I love it for that.
I am very sad and frustrated and I don’t know what to do anymore.
Im so sorry you are stuck in this position its very frustrating. The first thing i would try is running a memtest on your machine. Its likely a faulty RAM module. If it confirms this then we can help and look at new memory.
Thank you very much for your answer.
The memtest was one of the first things I did. I have also checked the Ssds. Both tests were positive.
I would definately run it again it seems to be getting worse and worse and that normally indicates some type of RAM issue of VRAM issue on the GPU. If it was the GPU i would expect different symptoms before the crash like artifacting. You can also download cpu-z and do a burn in test on the cpu.
Okay, I’ll do that. Thanks again for your support, I really appreciate it.
I have a few questions.
I wanted to do the extended memtest, but it stops at approx. 21% for a very long time. So I will do the test overnight. Is the result of the test saved somewhere?
I have downloaded CPU-Z. I assume with the “burn in test” you mean the stress test? How do I use it correctly?
I started it, but it runs without terminating at any point, so I terminated it manually. Is that correct or do I have to let it run until it stops itself? I was nevertheless able to save a report.
I should also say that I only have problems with the MSFS. I also play Baldur’s Gate 3 on this PC and have no problems there. And if I can believe my fans, this game is also a challenge for the PC. But everything runs perfectly there.
Looks like the cpu is fine. You would hit a problem very early on if there was an issue with the CPU. The memtest however shouldnt stop so thats an odd one. Do you get any red error messages?
It might be worth unplugging one of the RAM modules and retesting stability. If its fixes the issue then we know. If it doesnt swap the module over and retest.
The normal memtest ran without any problems. That’s why I wanted to do the extended memtest. And it also said that no problems had been found so far…As far as “unplugging one of the RAM modules” is concerned, I actually wanted to avoid such things. As I’ve already said, I’m not the youngest anymore and my health is pretty fragile. That’s why certain things are not so easy for me these days. The PC is quite heavy and my hands aren’t as steady as they used to be. So I would only want to do something like this in an emergency.
I think it’s a gift to grow old, but being old is sometimes a big challenge.
I hear ya on that one. Turned 50 this year haha. But i still build around 30 pc’s a year while i can if memtest ran fine then it makes sense to do a detailed one. And no point removing ram if you dont need to.
In the search on windows if you search for problem reports do you get any extra info on the flight sim crash?
I have 18 years more on my back and I “cultivated” the stupidest habit for 40 years, I smoked. Now I have COPD and that makes everything even more difficult. But I still live alone and can look after myself and, if the MSFS works as it should, travel the world a bit.
But back to the question, no unfortunately no information about the flightsim crash.
In the thread “PC Resets completely” someone wrote about the XMP memory profile in BIOS, which I have now also switched off. You never know.
I will report whether this has changed anything.
Deactivating the XMP memory profile in the BIOS did not help.
I cannot run the extended memtest. It remains at 21%. When I deactivate the cache, the test does not even start. So I will contact the seller of my PC on Monday.
I still think its incompatible or unstable RAM. Hope it all works for you.
Have you tried retraining the memory on you am5 platform?
I agree with you, I think something is wrong with the RAM.
I take the fact that I can’t run an extended memtest as evidence that something is wrong with the RAM. Am I getting this wrong?
What do you mean by: “Have you tried retraining the memory on you am5 platform”. I don’t know that.
So I did test my RAM with Memtest86+ for a few hours and everything seems to be okay. In my opinion, I have done everything I can.
It seems that also other people have roughly the same problems as me. I would be very happy if I could reset the MSFS to the version before SU 15. But that will probably remain a wish.
I thank you for your support and will probably have to wait for a miracle.
At the moment I don’t have the energy or desire to deal with the MSFS any more. It costs me too much and no longer brings me any joy.
Just out of curiousity have you tried DX11? I know a few people have had issues with DX12 especially in the later patches?
