It would be nice if the in game pop up tools were viewable on external devices. I think a clean solution for this would be to have the option for the game to spin up a small local web server that servers a PWA that we can open on our tablets/phones with all the pop up utilities.
Why a PWA?
It let’s use either just view it through a web browser or “install” the website to the homescreen so we can get full screen views, as well as have the utility show warnings and such if the connection to the game is lost. Additionally, it provides for the potential for offline functionality. So we can make a flight plan in the PWA even when the game is not running, then have it sync back up with the game when it regains connection.
Other Ideas for app
Let us lay out the tools in a grid.
Why do I want this?
Well, it would just be kind of nice. I like having the comms and EFB open while flying, but if I have it on the game window, it blocks my view. If I put it on my second monitor, it’s just inconvenient to have to mouse over to it. Being able to touch my tablet to interact with them would make the system feel a lot more tactile.
Plus when the tools are in pop out mode, it somehow hurts FPS. And there are also some weird interactions with the Nvidia tools when you do that (recorders, performance displays, etc).
