Good day
I am upgrading my rig after the purchase of a Pimax Crystal Light.
I was womdering what would be the right choice to pair with a 7800X3D. After you have locked your fps let’s say to 30 or 40, is there a difference (is it worth the money) between :
- 4070 Super Ti - 16GB Vram
- 4080 Super - 16GB Vram
- RX 7900 XTX - 24GB VRam
or should I go with the cheapest one.
Thanks for your advice

I don’t think you could go wrong with any of them.
I haven’t had an AMD GPU, but I’m not counting them out when (if) I decide to upgrade my 3090 Ti in the near future. I have 24GB VRAM on that card, and I never come close to maxing it out.
As it stands the 4080 Super benchmarks about 15% better than the 4070 Ti Super, and about 15% better than the 7900 XTX. The 4070 Ti Super and the 7900 XTX are about equal.
If it was me, today, I’d go with the 4080 Super if I had the budget, or the 4070 Ti Super if I needed to save a couple hundred dollars.
Thank you. But do you think that i will really make a big difference between the 4070 ti Super and the 4080 Super as anyway we cannot maxout everything.
I max out my 3090 Ti core processor load all the time. I don’t max out the VRAM, because the textures being loaded aren’t that big.
4K native on the sim monitor, with a 2K secondary monitor.
I just upgraded from a 3080ti to a 4080 Super on an i9 12900k/z690 setup and I am very happy with the result. I was able to bump up the PPD setting on my Varjo Aero, increase the LOD sliders a bit, textures, a few other settings and maintain smooth performance. I am really happy with the lower power consumption and cooler running temps as well. Much less noise coming out of the case with better performance. Wins all around.

From what I have been researching, at higher resolutions the 7800x3d loses a lot of ground and the 7950x3d comes up from behind. At 2560 x 1440 for instance the 7800 with the 4080 super bottleneck is a little over 10%. It is also too weak when paired with the 4070 ti super at the same resolution. In contrast, the 7950x3d with both the 4080 super or 4090 is perfect.
I am getting great results 58003DX and 4070. By great I mean 27 to 43 fps. Depending on if near a detailed airport or in a resource hog aircraft.
But I have traffic set very low, am using DLSS balanced and Render preset High end.
To use DLSS DLAA and Render preset ultra I would probably need a 78003DX and a 4080. A 4090 would be nicer but way expensive.
Six months from now MSFS 2024 will change everything. It may require less horsepower in the hardware. But maybe it will require more?
If the budget allows, I’d go for the 4080 Super. Even if it doesn’t let you max out everything, it will allow you to bump up a few textures and settings.
Also, it can offer a better experience compared to the 4070 Ti.
