Using 6800xt or 6900xt (both personally owned and tested by myself), in 2d works ok, no problems, ultra 4k 30,40+ fps stable.
In vr, a CTD will happen, with a frequency ranging from almost immediate to 30 minutes, i dare to say truly random, not depending on settings (ultra/low is the same).
I personally reproduced this with: Hp Reverb g2 and Oculus Quest 2, but other users reported same CTD behaviour also on Oculus CV1, Samsung Odyssey+, Pimax, etc, so it’s safe to assume it’s happening for all vr headsets.
The CTD seems to be related to AMD driver version. There seems to be a regression introduced sometimes when the 6800/6900 generation was released.
Why do i think there is a regression in drivers? Take a Amd 5700XT card (last gen), and play in VR with older drivers like 20.10.1 or 20.9.2. No CTD. Everything OK.
If you install newer drivers, like 21.2.1, 21.3.1, 21.6.1, etc, you will experience constant crashes in VR, exactly as the 6800xt/6900xt users (which cannot revert to an older driver before the supposed regression).
I also mention that this CTD behaviour is only observed in MSFS in VR. 2d works fine. VR in other games works fine.
Me and a couple other “power-users” that have 6800xt/6900xt tried more than 100 possible “tweaks or solutions” and posted our results here in the forums, from software changes, to almost complete (and expensive) hardware changes, with no avail.
The crashes come with a vcredist, flightsimulator.exe or or other errors in the windows event manager, more info can be found in this topic.
