CTD on EVERY flight for the past 10 days

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
I have been having CTD on EVERY flight in both Free Flight and Career Mode for the past 10ish days. CTD will happen somewhere between walk around (most common), taxi out for takeoff (second most common) and a few have happened during cruise or decent to landing. Every time there is a pause or studder in sound where it goes silent for a few miliseconds…then comes back…then goes out and CTD. No error code has ever been shown and mouse or rest of system is not locked up. CTD is very quick…not sitting on a screen in an unresponsive state…just bam…desktop. Have done a full reinstall - no change. Have cleared out the Community Directory - no change. Have cleared out the EXE.xml to stop autostarts (FSUIPC) - no change. I think this started after the last soft update…but I’m not sure.

System Specs:
|Processor|13th Gen Intel(R) Core™ i9-13900HX 2.20 GHz|
|Installed RAM|64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable)|
|System type|64-bit operating system, x64-based processor|
NVDIA RTX 4090 driver v566.36 DLSS driver 3.8.10.0

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
Yes, but as writeup says - i have reinstalled, cleared community, cleared EXE.xml - nothing has fixed it.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Here’s what I’d did.

reducing the number of active cores from 32 to 30 and lowering the P Core ratio from 57 to 55 seems to have made my whole system more stable.

I’ve been able to stop flights and start new flights without crashes, something I’ve never been able to do. I can zoom in and out on the MFD, again, never been able to do that. I think I found my solution

If you’re running a high-end 13th or 14th Gen Intel CPU I’d say its worth a shot. Make sure your BIOS is up to date as well

My setup:
i9-14900KF
280mm AIO cooler
Asus ROG Strix MB
32GB 6000Mhz RAM
RTX 4080 Super
2TB SSD
850W power supply

So i’m not going to say that it is 100% the solution - but so far this has worked for me 1/1 flights!

Rather than mess with the bios (my laptop didn’t make changing the CPU settings very intuitive) I downloaded the Process Lasso application and just disabled 2 cores for MSFS2024 alone. Simple and seems to be working. 10/10 will try again.

Glad to help, since doing this I’ve been running CTD free for about a week now.

There was an issue with multicore that has been fixed: Solved: CTD at 87% - Loading world - Multicore Problem AMD Threadripper
Title mentions AMD but not sure if it also fixed the issue with Intel CPUs. Maybe you could try to activate back the 2 cores to check if it works on your config.

Version 1.2.7.0 is dated December 10, 2024.
OP had a different issue – also experienced CTD after the patch was released - the topic is dated January 3, 2025.

In another topic, I updated the description of the known issues.

I believe someone from the support team should update the description of the known issues for msfs 2024.

So I did restore all 32 cores this morning and flew without issue so I’ll tentatively say my issue (at least) has been resolved.
