Brief description of the issue:
I’m getting a CTD in various stages. I’ve tried the nightmare of reinstalling (which used hundreds of hundreds of Gigs of data after countless failed attempts. Finally installed after using a VPN). I’ve rolled back NVIDIA drivers, changed pagefile, slowed bandwidth. I’ve tried everything I’ve read on here and elsewhere. MSFS worked for several weeks with zero issues, now I cant get a flight to load to save my life.
Many issues may be due to an outdated graphics card. Please state your Graphics Card Driver Manufacturer (NVIDIA, Intel, AMD) and Version (Learn how to find your current graphics card driver version):

Continuing to read about others having CTD issues. I built a PC specifically for this, and have never experienced so many issues. Going on weeks of being entirely unplayable.
I’m on Steam and have had endless problems.
The CTD was solved by reinstalling MSFS, which I have done twice. I’m fighting the white dot and lagging mouse which is caused by game controller input mode, that can be turned off, but returns intermittently instead of constantly.
If you get MSFS working, it is worth having it on a separate partition and then imaging it, as well as a copy of the files in App Data on C drive.
So if there is a problem you can restore a working version, and if the problem persists, you know it isn’t MSFS but somewhere else. This worked for my mouse issues.
MSFS is the worst program I’ve ever had to deal with, and I’ve never been so angry and frustrated with anything else.
Good luck, and unfortunately, failure is always an option.

Thank you. I’ve reinstalled, but maybe will give it another shot
Every time I load into a flight it comes up with the warning that MFS will have to close because of graphics card overheating/overclocking… and every time it shuts down. I have tried the nightmare of reinstalling it and all of my airplanes (Which I purchased in the built-in MFS marketplace) and it still doesn’t work. What do I do?
I would always recommend having MSFS from the Microsoft store not steam, I used to use steam but it caused a lot of problems so I eventually gave up on it.
I have Elite Dangerous on Steam and never had an issue. XPlane 11 was just randomly tried in VR one day and SteamVR fired up and it worked, apart from XP 11 wouldn’t let me use just my HOTAS with the VR controllers in my view.
Then MSFS was the same, click the desktop shortcut and the magic would happen. Then 2 weeks later it didn’t, and the hell began. Another person on Reddit had the MS store version and never got MSFS to work with his Quest 2.
So I really don’t know nothing, Steam works and doesn’t, and the MS store version is the same. Apart from intermittent mouse issues, Steam work for now. But for how long, I don’t know.
I treat every flight as possibly my last.
It is good advice to consider the MS store version as an option for when Steam finally fails.
Ok thank you. Regarding the mouse issues, I had them but I find that Bluetooth mice somehow don’t. So when I play MFS (or try to) I use BT.

Very interesting.
I will try that if it persists.
