Ctd with 737 800 pmdg xbox serie x

Every flight with the PMDG 737-800 results in a consistent CTD following the update to SU 1.9.12.0.
The LOD is degraded, and stuttering frequently occurs during taxiing and takeoff (I wouldn’t know about landing, as I have never managed to complete a flight).
Please fix this issue urgently, as the Boeing is currently unusable.
Other airliners and Cessnas do not suffer from this problem.

Hi Maybey9358,

It looks like you’re running a beta version of MSFS. In that case, I’d strongly suggest reporting the issue to Microsoft as part of the beta feedback process.

We generally don’t support beta builds, simply because they are a moving target. Changes are not always fully documented, and we’ve been caught out more than once by spending a fair amount of time adapting to a beta version, only for the final release to behave differently again. That tends to turn a lot of useful engineering work into rather expensive confetti.

So for compatibility issues like this, we normally wait until we’re very close to the public release before digging into it on our side.

Thanks for understanding.

I am fully aware that this is not a PMDG issue, and I am reporting the problem across the Microsoft forums in the hope that it gets fixed quickly.
It is certainly linked to the beta, so it is right that the fix doesn’t come from your end.
Incidentally, there are other reports similar to mine.

Thanks.

If this was intended for Microsoft, I would strongly recommend using their standard reporting channels. That gives them the best chance to track, categorize, and investigate the issue properly. A forum post may certainly be seen, but I’m not sure it would automatically make its way into their formal bug-tracking system.

Hi @TheFalconOne

Just to confirm, users completing a Bug Report on the forums are the only way users are able to report bugs for the team to investigate, and is our only standard reporting channel.

Unless there seems to be a wider issue with a number of 3rd party products that all have similar behavioural traits (such as WASM modules not compiling at all indicating an issue not just with the one aircraft), then we do not file Bug Reports for our team to test with 3rd party products.

Bug Reports on the MSFS forums should only be submitted without the use of any 3rd party products.

This user states they do not experience this particular issue with other aircraft, therefore not indicating an issue that the Microsoft team need to investigate at this time.

Thanks
The MSFS Team

TTo clarify further, last night I flew from Brussels to Paris Orly—again using the 737-800, but this time switching from the dual-class version to the high-density one.
Aside from massive stuttering during the final approach and taxiing to the gates, I didn’t experience a CTD for the first time in beta 1.9.12.0; however, the system was clearly unstable, as the frame rate was very low.
I had hoped the ~400 MB update installed yesterday would fix the issue, but I believe it actually only concerned the Marketplace.
Essentially, I am looking for some clarification.
If we, as users of PMDG products, encounter this issue with the beta, whom should we contact to report it? After all, it involves a third-party aircraft (PMDG) experiencing malfunctions that aren’t caused by the developer itself.
Or must we risk the problem persisting into the final version of SU7 because the report cannot be taken into consideration?

Thanks.

Hi @Maybe9357

As mentioned above in my comment yesterday, if you are experiencing an issue with a 3rd party product in Microsoft Flight Simulator (whether during a Sim Update Beta period or not), and you are only able to replicate that particular issue with the 3rd party product, and not with a completely vanilla/default simulator, then this must be reported directly to the 3rd party developer. As Mathijs from PMDG states in his comment above, PMDG do not generally support Beta builds, meaning they may not address any issues that arise during a Sim Update Beta until the Sim Update has officially released for all players.

Thanks
The MSFS Team

The whole point of participating in the beta should be to report any malfunctions following the release of updates and changes.
Otherwise, what is the purpose of user participation in the beta if a significant issue is raised but no one addresses it?
If PMDG aircraft worked perfectly up to the stable version 6.1, but problems suddenly arise with the SU7 Beta—problems that do not occur with aircraft from other developers—then clearly the issue lies with the SU7 beta, not PMDG.
Something has caused an incompatibility; unless we test to identify the source of this instability, we risk carrying the problem over into the final SU7 release, turning it into a major regression.
With the 737-800, the system crashes during flight or approach, kicking the user back to the Xbox home screen.
Alternatively, there is stuttering and a loss of LOD; during night flights, for instance, this causes city lights to flicker on and off intermittently, especially during the approach (e.g., London).
I do not believe the issue lies with my Xbox or my network (2.5 Gbps wired download speed), as other users have encountered the exact same problem.
That same flight presents no issues when using an Asobo Airbus or the Cessna CJ4.
I do not think it is up to PMDG to investigate this; asking them to modify their aircraft for a beta version at this stage makes no sense.

Respectfully.

Let’s not make too much of this; it’s an early beta. We normally ignore those, as it is dangerous to work on code that is still in development. If there is indeed a change from working on Windows, Cloud, Xbox, and PS5 to not working, it indeed means something changed in the simulator. Right now, the SDK is not updated, so we are unaware of any required changes.

We’ll see.

Mathijs

First of all, thanks for the feedback, Matijs—you’re always balanced and helpful.
I suppose the price of beta participation is having to put up with these issues. Oh well.
It’s a shame not to be able to fly the PMDG 737-800—which I love—and to have to settle for the LOD and fluidity of the default A321, but I’ll wait patiently for a stable build.

I’ve never come across it

With the new beta release 1.9.13.0, the previously reported CTD issue with the 737-800 seems to have been mitigated.
I completed four flights of up to two hours, and the crash occurred only once—on the route from LIMC to LIRN.
However, landscape LOD issues persist, even in areas with Photogrammetry (PG).
While flying over Milan, the only detailed buildings were the stadium and a couple of towers in the city center.
The rest of the buildings appeared as undefined polygons.
We shall see if future releases fix the problem.
The PMDG 737 is highly detailed and certainly requires more memory than other aircraft.
But since this is a beta, we will wait for simulator updates.
