I just found out that MSFS is CTD when you have a bunch of peripherals (warthog joystick + throttle, rudder pedals, 6 Cougar MFDs and a saitek radio panel) and click on “controls” in the options menu.
I submitted a ticket and the answer was that they turn my report into a “feature request” ^^
They dont care, and I dont think this will change. Unfortunately I already paid for this “year 2020 flightsim”.
But if you came here from another sim like P3D or DCS or Xplane and use bit more than a joystick, please rethink if you want to buy it.
Thanx for the HU, but I wouldn’t consider 10 peripherals ‘a bit more than a joystick’.

I have multiple attachments and no issues, you might want to change your title.

Zero problem on much older sims, even FSX was able to handle this.
You might manage it via FSUIPC or Axisandohs and don‘t need to click on the controllers menu anymore. P3D wasn‘t exactly the most stable sim either when I went to change its assignments. In P3D I use FSUIPC and Linda, in MSFS I use AAO, no issues, no double assignments, changes even without pausing the sim ^^

I’ve got 9 different usb peripherals hooked op in msfs and encountered no problems so far.
Same here. Maybe you are having problems with your USB hub (it has to be powered) or the problem with Windows 10 turning off your peripherals to save power. Expand the “USB settings” and you see, “USB selective suspend setting” … This is the default setting for Windows 10. Click on the drop down and select “Disabled” to not allow Windows power management to suspend or power down the USB port … Click “OK” to save setting and close all open Windows. From the WWW.
I have a Virtual Fly yoke & throttle, MFG Crosswind v3 rudder pedals, Logitech Radio/Multi/Switch panels, and a Streamdeck XL connected without issues.
I would imagine the OP as one of those “null” profiles identified late last year that causes the problem. It was a profile that had no assignments. I don’t remember if that bug was fixed or not, but you don’t tend to read about it very often now.
The only problem I have had with multiple peripherals is that they are all preprogrammed and, if they have the same assignments for any function, there will be conflicts. A new installation with multiple peripherals requires lots of assignment removals.
I’ve get this as well, but definitely have ‘more than a joystick’…
Virpil T-50CM2, Warthog Throttle, MFG pedals, 3x Thrustmaster MFD, 1x button box, 1x BBI-64, 1x BU0836A.
Crashes to desktop when entering controls menus if everything’s connected. Fortunately they’re connected via a switchable USB hub so it’s not too much hassle to switch off the ones I don’t need for MSFS.
Been meaning to try and deduce whether it’s a combination of devices or the total, but seeing as it takes so ■■■■ long to even get to the options screen I haven’t got round to it yet.
Crashes shouldn’t be dismissed as ‘feature requests’, whatever the circumstances.

Check to see which devices are connected to which hub. Power is shared from the hub to more than one USB connection so its possible to demand more power than the hub can deliver.
USB power management is already disabled, if that should be the problem it wouldnt work on all other sims as well. My USB Hub is powered, no power problem - again, it wouldnt work on all other sims. I will definately not change to any external program as MSFS should be able to handle this as a modern sim.
For now I have to disconnect two of the cougar MFDs, now it doesnt crash - if I let these two MFDs on and disconnect any other controler it also works - so clearly a MSFS problem.
I know, I am on a rage here. But I am somewhat baffled that this is really a problem for a modern piece of software. And I am even more disappointed that “Support” is brushing aside my problem and saying that this is a Feature Request. I get the impression that MSFS is just another cashcow for them… but future will show what this behavior does to a piece of software.
Yep, which is why this clickbait title should be changed to a civil and more appropriate one.

I have a yoke, a logitech FFB joystick, a hotas style throttle, two logitech throttle quadrants, a set of pedals, three logitech pedals and sometimes an xbox style joypad all connected at the same time via a sufficiently powered usb 2.0 hub. I have no particular issues. I would LOVE to be able to bind a set of settings to a particular aircraft tough (e.g., yoke disabled for planes using joysticks and vice-versa, single-dual engine throttle, reverse settings for helicopter collective approximation and the like)
Playing devils advocate here, its possible they simply misunderstood your request, or you didn’t explain it clearly.
Let me give you an example. Soon after the sim launched, I was having problem with the C208 with regards to reverse thrust. I had resorted to using a button press to engage this. Support closed my ticket after a few days stating that they knew turbo prop logic wasn’t working properly but would be worked on in time.
The actual answer was to change the binding on my throttle to one which actually goes from positive to negative, and then set the neutral point so that the throttle perfectly sits there on its idle detent.
Support didn’t tell me this, a forum member did.
I’ve also had the same issue with the Cougar MFDs - I’m not sure it’s that big of a deal though.
Hmmm. So you can plug in any combination of 9 peripherals, in any order, and it won’t crash? But the 10th will?
The usual, aggressive and demanding type of post. Don’t be surprised if people skip these types of clickbait/rant posts. And please, stop telling others what this sim is or isn’t. We have eyes and enough brains to judge for ourselves, and many disagree with you, letme tell you that much. More often than not, user error is also a thing, keep that in mind. The sim is new, very new, and bugs can and will arise for a while, that’s unavoidable. Xplane/P3D still introduce bugs after 2 decades of legacy, so let’s quit the “modern sim” talk, and what should or shouldn’t happen in a sim and who is or isn’t the culprit, unless you have technical data proving your point. Flightsims are extremely complex. You’re using third party products and a sim that is still under construction. To expect flawless behavior in every type of configuration is not just ignorant, but also naive. The very least you can do, is to remain calm, composed and start a constructive discussion that will lead to improvements, because the way you’re communicating now will attract and produce the opposite. Good luck

The tone might be in question, but if the sim really is crashing when 10 USB devices are connected, that can be seen as controllers, then that is an issue, and should be addressed. In that case, build a body of evidence, and post it as a Wishlist item as support suggests.
