Just having fun trying to guess what it could mean.
If “WU” is a world update, I’m guessing “CU” means a city update. And since Gamescom 2022 is in Cologne, Germany I’m guess it will get a special update. I assume photogrammetry update and some special POIs, like the convention center?
Coastal update could also be something - improvements on the coastal representation adding some rolling wake effects, reducing glitches on water bodies and making water semi transparent as a first step?
I don’t really think that’s meant but… Who knows? For sure it will be some nice surprise.
At 1:05:51 he says they’re holding something back for Gamescom & it’s locally relevant. It could theoretically mean the local legend but it makes far more sense he’s talking about the CU.
It’s not really a downgrade from the country updates. Canada is coming next month & they’re working on many other country updates. It’s just more of a little surprise addition because why not.
I’m more interested in the fact it’s called ‘CU 1’. Meaning that potentially more single city updates will come down the line in addition to normal country (world) updates.
It makes sense if they only have data for a single notable city & not enough for a full country update or have covered a country pretty well & would sensibly rather focus on countries more in need of a big update whilst not wasting the opportunity to add or improve a random city.
Thank you for this info. Living next to ETNN I didn’t notice that. Also I didn’t even know I wrote anything about Cologne? Seems like I learned pretty much tonight.
Btw, as a hint, I wrote in plural - I guess I meant more than one city.
I was thinking of cities as well, since it has a number too as “CU 1”, therefore more updates are expected.
I was also thinking for a while that they could just constantly update cities besides World Updates, since several photogrammetries have bugs or there are so much more cities that could be covered with photogrammetry, and no point waiting for the next WU to do that in a certain country imo.
