whatever is listed as the system requirements is as it is written. The minimums are like…barely minimums. I think someone somewhere around here is rocking a potato and having the time of their life…
I had an RX 570, paired with a Ryzen 5 2600 and 16GB of RAM. I was able to play smoothly in a mix of medium and high settings, even with some heavy addons, achieving 30 fps or more.
So I believe it’s possible to play MSFS with a PC slightly below these requirements by obviously putting the graphics on low. But then, I think it will be more worth to use FSX instead.
Yes, they’re still valid, with lower settings. In fact, minimum-spec hardware is the very reason that the sim has adjustable performance settings in the first place.
I was using a GTX 750 TI with a Ryzen 5600x, 32 GB and 3200 Mhz ram until 3 weeks ago. It functioned well at 25-29 fps, though at mostly low settings. But it worked with the 750 Ti but always with a warning at start indicating my system was below the minimum recommended. A click on “OK” and the launch continued.
I highly recommend watching BuildPicker’s review of what CPU, GPU and RAM resources MSFS uses (and what it doesn’t). It’s from 8 months ago but still very informative, about low, mid and high level specs:
