Current status of Garmins?

I am a bit confused after digging deeper into the MSFS system regarding different radio/GPS panels. Despite knowing WT addons are now incorporated into the base game, I am still unsure about the marketplace addons. I see WT G1000/3000/430/530 and WT21 (what is that) as included in the mandatory package, but there’s also the free WT 430/530 and 1000 Nxi available for download. Which one should I use and which one does the plane use? Do I need to manually edit any planes to use the more advanced version?

I’d probably add to this question but if I want to use Garmin’s official manual, which aircraft specific model and version should I look for? I know this is not an issue with 430/530 but those 1000/1000Nxi/3000 do seem to differ with regard to a/c type.

Regarding the GNS 430/530 Marketplace add-on, it seems you need it for some 1st, 2nd and 3rd party aircraft still.

See my findings here::

You could also edit the panel.cfg file for each of the aircraft that still use the Asobo GNS so that they use the WT GNS, instead.

Thanks for the info! I guess I need to read that entire thread, but just one simple question here, when talking about AS530, does it refer to new WT 530 or the marketplace addon? So without marketplace 530, the GPS units in those planes (like Trislander) will go blank? I’m not wanting to try that fearing I may mess things up :upside_down_face:

Personal Comments and Observations

You’ll have to track the individual status of third-party planes with their respective developers. Many have changed their code to point to the core sim Working Title Garmins, but not all. That’s not unexpected as third-parties follow their own cadence to align with sim core code changes.

Neither.

The AS430 & AS530 are the original Asobo iterations of the GNS units with limited functionality and non-standard waypoint implementation in terms of procedures.

The WT430 & WT530 are Working Title’s near-perfect replicas of the actual units.

On an aircraft that does not have the WT version(s) implemented by default, you’d have the Asobo version instead. By having the WT GNS Marketplace add-on installed, you will have the WT GNS in those aircraft instead.

In no case would you have no unit or a “blank” space where one should be. The only caveat being that some 3rd party GPS units (available outside the Marketplace and installed in the Community folder and only for PC) that are meant to replace the GNS units with a different GPS can conflict with the newer code and might lead to blank displays.

Also, what is the deal with G1000 and Nxi? I know those are two separate models IRL but can they be used interchangeably in the sim?
