Just in case anyone is interested Currys are selling the Honeycomb flight yoke for £129. I bought one yesterday, it came this morning - what an excellent quality product and I think its best ever price including free post. I seem to remember these being very expensive.
Agree WebbedBrush7083.
I’ve been flying MS flight sim ever since the Commodore 64 days and have used many different flight controllers and PCs over those years.
For this latest version of MS flight sim I decided to try both the Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant.
Wow!
Definitely my favorite controllers.
Yes, at £129 it’s a good price.
Just to be clear though it’s the first version with ‘pots’ and not the XPC with hall sensors and is just for the PC/Mac and not PC and Xbox. Also, not sure I would like to rely on the Manufacturer’s guarantee of 2 years given that a few people reportedly are having difficulties contacting Honeycomb. If this could be an issue for potential buyers I suggest maybe looking at a relevant thread here on the forum.
Not seen it ever priced this low though. At the price arguably a bargain
Just bought a second, my first still in warranty has a dirty pot signal, I’ve repeatedly requested warranty support and got no response! I would say Honeycomb are definitely in trouble and/or already out of business. Currently claiming breach f contract (Section 75 in the UK) with my Credit Card company to recover original outlay.
I don’t like dealing with Currys (they’re just box-shifters like Dixons were), but some of their deals are incredible.
Of course, if a hypothetical company was hypothetically going bust, retailers would be unloading all their stock.
Just saying.
Hypothetically.
if you say that in an Ian Hislop voice it sounds like an episode of Have I Got News For You
Oh shuddUP, I can hear him saying it now
Hypothetically, of course
Having tried most of the opposition - which are mostly junk with a toy-like feel. I bought the Honeycomb for the sheer quality compared to the other makes. The ball bearing yoke is beautiful in use. Their claim Hall effect is 400% better is nonsense, a bit better yes and reliable, but changing a 50 pence pot is simple if there is a problem. The response and feel is in a different league to others I’ve used and certainly close to aircraft I’ve flown over the years. It may not be the latest but the value is remarkable.
If I had to criticise it I’d say the roll is a bit light compared to the pitch force but nevertheless very realistic.
Visually the new (XPC) has a squared off shape on the red lit honeycomb mesh on the face of the box, but the first version is rounded at the top. The new also has the Xbox “X” button at the bottom right which isn’t there on the first version.
Looks like the red and white pairs of switches are the other way around too haha
