Custom camera settings - stored where?

I remember reading somewhere that you can create your own custom camera settings for your desired views. Does anybody know where these settings are stored? The reason I ask is that I almost always modify the default camera settings in the cameras.cfg file to my liking, but man, this is a tedious process as you have to make a small change, exit the entire simulator program, load it up again, make another small change, etc. If I could set a desired view, then store that as a custom camera setting, then view those settings, well, that would certainly save a huge amount of time.

Mine are here (MS Store version):

C:\Users(username)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes

At this point, there are folders for each aircraft, in those folders I have “cameras.cfg” which show my camera settings.

Got it! Thank you!

Sure - I forgot to add that if I remember correctly, you still need to create the profiles in the game first using the Ctrl + Alt + #

where # is 0-9

Yeah I managed to do that no problem. I just couldn’t find where the sim was storing those settings. Thanks again, you’ve saved me oodles of time and frustration.

I’ve tried to save new custom cameras, but it has been impossible for me since there is no way to move forward and backward inside the cockpit, it seems that they’ve removed that option in the default controls of the keyboard after the last patches. Has anyone managed to do it?

Old thread but putting this info here in case useful…

For Steam version:

%AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SimObjects\Airplanes\

Copy and paste that and inside that folder you will find the aeroplane files for example:

Milviz_FG1D

And there you will find cameras.CFG if you have added any custom views.

Hi, PC User with XBOX Store installed version. I want to add external custom camera views but the …SimObject\Airplanes folder isnt present. Also carried out a search for cameras.cfg and again not available. Is this a limitation of the XBOX version even though Im running on PC?

Pan 90°, use left and right to position and then pan back (although not all aircraft let you leave the cockpit).

Hey, for anyone still watching this thread who hasn’t been able to get cabin views in the King Air, here’s my cameras.cfg file – had to change the extension to .txt to upload it here.

I edited the cfg file to get my camera into the cabin, which didn’t work for some reason for about the first 10 tries. But it must have been a weird caching issue or something because I returned to it about 20 minutes later and voila! I had a camera in the cabin.

Also it seems the cabin skin is actually passable with the cockpit camera, once the camera has moved outside the cockpit - there’s some kind of a camera box around the cockpit that you have to get it out of first. And that box doesn’t include the cabin.

Anyway, hope this helps some people in this old thread.
