Custom Camera Views Not Saving

I’m experiencing some of these issues. The two I have reproduced are: if you enter a flight in an aircraft from sim start and set up a custom camera view, then end the flight, change aircraft, and start a new flight with that aircraft, when you arrive in the cockpit and press the custom camera keybinds the views from the first aircraft you flew are used; and if you then attempt to change the view and overwrite the custom camera view for this aircraft, the change is not applied (or it might be, but you cannot see it since the custom camera for the original aircraft is still being used).

The only remedy is to restart the sim entirely before changing aircraft, and then any saved custom cameras for that particular aircraft are recalled and used.

FWIW, there must have been a server-side change because all my custom camera views are now working on the Vision Jet. I had done a full reinstall several days ago and that did not solve the problem. Then last night I checked the Vision Jet again and all my custom camera settings work perfectly. Logged back in this morning and they are still working perfectly. Not sure what happened, but a happy camper here.

I have the same (frustrating) issue. Load a flight, use previously saved custom cameras, then load a different aircraft/helicopter and attempt to use its custom cameras only to end up somewhere outside the fuselage.

I have to quit and restart the site every time between aircraft. Really frustrating when trying to evaluate flight characteristics of similar aircraft.

I had a similar problem with the custom cameras. I tried many things and finally the solution came reseting the “camera” menu to defaults in “general settings”. I don’t know how those options had been changed. Maybe it’s a too simple solution but I would be glad if yuo find it useful. Good luck!

Hello.

I have exactly the same problem, and the only solution is to restart the simulator if you want to change aircraft.

It’s impossible to switch from one plane to another with correct views as recorded.

So it happens on 1.2.7.0 too and I found out the following:

Workaround:

  • You can set custom cameras to any airplane you like.
  • You need to exit the game, start again and you can set new custom cameras.
  • If you then switch to another airplane you already have custom cameras set up, the game will use the first camera.cfg file it loaded for your previous plane, and will not recognize the new plane’s camera settings.

This is frustrating, but at least you can set up the cameras.

I was frustrated with this, didn’t realized what was going on until I read your post.

Sure enough, the settings are being saved per variant… for me, it was custom camera positions in the PC-24 that were causing me grief.

Thank you for the post @Lonemercs, I really appreciate it!

msfs 2020: FS 2024 is already out and essential things like the camera system don’t work properly. Not only is there still no solution to saving a custom camera correctly, loading a custom camera doesn’t work either and this camera is initially loaded into the wrong position after you move in the cockpit. So I have to click the joystick button twice each time for the camera to load correctly. To be honest, I think it’s really unreasonable that essential things are simply never fixed and that work is instead done on the scenery. A simulator is only as good as its worst part and if the camera system doesn’t work properly, which has an essential job, then I’ll consider taking a look at the competition’s products. Something as simple as correctly saving and restoring the data for a camera position. In order to at least load the custom camera correctly, I need exactly 2 hours to fix a bug like that, which will probably never happen with the new version. These problems may still exist in the new version.

Yep, this is a problem not only with default planes but with third-party ones as well like the Fenix and the A300.

Same issues….setup Save Custom Camera View and Load Custom Camera View….works great, then doesnt. Same aircraft, same livery etc, and all of a sudden the preciously setup view will send me to cargo hold, or outside of aircraft. Staring at the floor somewhere. Cant overwrite it either.

Absolutely frustrating when trying to just relax and enjoy the simulator.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, exactly as @TouchablePizza is describing

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Custom views should save for each aircraft, as in MSFS 2020.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

This should be a window view

Custom views saved for the first time in an aircraft affect subsequent aircraft loaded - rendering custom views unusable for the second and later aircraft. Restarting the sim fixes the issue. So every time views in a new aircraft are set up you need to restart the sim before flying something else. Did not occur in 2020.

I spent yesterday trying to fix this issue. I am getting this issue myself, this first was a problem with the fenix but seems to be an issue on other defaukt aircraft. However it seems custom views are not saving at all for me even in the same session or after a reload of the sim

I had annoying zoom issue yesterday where it zoomed in but couuldnt zoom out . However that seems “fixed” when I loaded the sim up this morning .

At this stage unfortunatley its making it very difficult to use the sim, especially in the more complex airliners .

Ho lo stesso problema! Non vengono salvate per niente pure a me! H125 su Xbox X

Are you able to decouple this window? I’m looking to have a wing-view or engine-view window decoupled from the cockpit window. My viewers like to watch those the whole flight and I’ve had to stick with FSX because of the lack of Wing View options

This issue has been in msfs2024 the whole time.

You can’t load custom views that you’ve created. And in many planes, the custom view places you somewhere random in the fuselage. Extremely frustrating!

Yes

This is the most annoying thing I have dealt with!!!

Experimental windows, after setting side views for hours, jump to a random spot! Meaning now doing them over again! Doubt I will go to MSFS 2024!

There must be something we can do? These experimental windows do not save properly? Also, all zoom settings are at 50%?

I guess this is the nature of the beast!

Also struggling with wide view! You can get close, but windows on the side do not hold their position after saved. The side views are nice and track where ever they fall, so I guess this software is also buggy as well!

7850x3d and 4090 both machines. Once you finally get windows, wide view windows look good but track terribly. Been on views all day?

What else would I do? Good sim overall!

A post was merged into an existing topic: Custom View for Aircraft shaking

Can’t believe this hasn’t been fixed yet, how is everyone else flying without saving custom views in the cockpit?!

My god, painful - I have been pulling my hair out!

Is it just with the 737?

mine save but half ways down the aircraft (MSFS 2020)
