Sorry, I don’t think I’ve ever made a bug report before so I left out some information.

Yes, I “Saved As” on the PC. Should I have used the cloud instead?

No problem  !
I used the “Saved to this PC option” and for me it saved correctly. Did you change the preset name to something else easily identifiable in the list ?

Thank you for your time.

Here’s the names of my presets with the file type .WPR:
August 12 2022_0900_Test 1
August 12 2022_0900_Test 2
Custom FamFlight
CYSN Test 1
CYSN_07_19_2023_1000

Something that I now notice is that all the folders in the LocalState folder are green encrypted except the “Weather” folder which is the basic black text. Could this have something to do with this problem?

Bob

No issue using 2 of the names provided:

No idea but we should not change this type of configuration.
On my installation LocalSate sub-folders are not green.
In that weather folder, do you see the files with your presets ?

Have you got a localcache\weather folder?

I don’t. The weather folder is in the LocalState one.

Okay, more information.

First off changing the “Weather” folder to encrypted doesn’t change anything - there are still no custom presets showing in the sim in Free Flight.

Here’s something else perhaps related:

Here’s the path to the “Preset” folder:

C:\Users[MyName]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\ LocalState

At this point the LocalState folder shows as a shortcut which takes me to this:

C:\Users[MyName]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\ LocalState\Weather\Presets

However, I have an “S” drive which is where all my simulator stuff resides; this includes MSFS 2020. I did this to keep most of the simulators off the “C” drive.

On the “S” drive the path to the Weather/Preset folders is:

S:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3232150825-3910427828-1161838408-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Weather\Presets

For comparison the path to the Weather/Preset folders for MSFS 2020 is this:
S:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3232150825-3910427828-1161838408-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Weather\Presets

As you can see the only difference is which folder is called up for MSFS 2024 - Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe - and MSFS 2020 - Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe

And all my hundreds of weather presets made in MSFS 2020 are found quite nicely by MSFS 2020.

Hope this helps.

Bob

I moved your topic to the User Support Hub since I cannot reproduce and there is no other existing report since launch. Could be more likely a configuration issue specific to your system.

When you save your custom weather preset in FS2024, do you have a corresponding file created under you FS2024 LocalState\Weather folder ?

Yes - all of the above reported presets I made are in that LocalState\Weather\Preset folder

Thank you for your time.

Bob

Those custom presets are added at the bottom of the list. Have you scrolled down ?

Yes, I’ve scrolled down and there’s nothing there.

What I’ve started doing now is to save them to the cloud. It works. However, I used to put them into folders according to date and METAR location and I can’t do that now.

Again, thank you for your time.

At least a workaround. What you can also check is if your weather folder under Local state is not read only, but would be weird if so, should not be in that state if you did not change the default configuration.

Great call! ALL the following folders are Read-only:

AppData
Local
Packages
Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe
LocalState
Weather
Presets

Now, which folders shouldn’t be Read-only?

Edit:

I just checked and all the same folders are Read-only in MSFS 2020!
