Is anyone else having problems with the Cyclic Training? I can get through the first parts but then when it gets to the instructor allowing the drift and asks me to push the cyclic to the right the helicopter just backs up fast and then remains impossible to control after that. I can’t get beyond this. Frustrating.
I was there.
- You don’t say what your setup is. Check that flight control axes aren’t reversed.
- Check that controls on different devices aren’t ‘fighting each other’.
- Check other threads on this subject. It’s totally not ‘plug and play’ (sadly)
This was me before:
Thanks for the response. Yeah that’s exactly me! in the video! I feel liek I know what I’m doing so it’s frustrating when it just goes haywire all of a sudden. I did the next training session and that seemed to go OK. It works fine most of the time so I don’t think there’s any issue with the controls.
I’m using a joystick so I twist for rudder control which is normally fine as I say.
My god - just watching that video again had me in tears! Literally The way the instructor is talking casually when the helicopter is upside down. things like this just completely crack me up.
I’m using a HOTAS One on Xbox so I do the same. I adjusted the sensitivity slightly on rudder twist and cyclic axes to give me a small dead sport and a slightly more gentle sensitivity.
I’ll admit I was very lucky with the timing on the commentary. A very easy choice to ‘record’ that moment.
Im having the same problem. I came on here to find out if it was a bug.
I would just skip that training module - that’s what I ended up doing. A similar thing happened in the next module but it allowed me to continue after I crashed. After that it’s been ok. And I passed my exam! Lock up your daughters!
Absolutely the same issue. I just came here to make sure I wasn’t crazy.
Yeah, screw this. The training is 100% impossible. i’m using a Logitech flight stick and the moment he releases controls the copter starts acting like a toddler is sitting in the left seat randomly playing with the controls. i have tried adjusting the dead zone and sensitivity from 0 to .25 and everything in between, nothing helps. The instructor just sits there talking about “applying A LITTLE right cyclic” while the helicopter shoots up and backwards like it’s a rocket headed for the moon. Did they even bother to test this garbage? Given the launch, i’m guessing not.
Exactly, there is some unrealistic acceleration of forces in both long/lat axis in this “test” that is NOT present when flying it normally. I can fly that helicopter in free flights just fine with no problem and it simply does not behave like this at all. Definitely needs to be fixed.
Haha! Glad I wasn’t the only one frustrated with the instructor. They need to implement Bing AI responses or something lol. Like repeating the same thing ain’t helping me at all dude. I still haven’t figured out how to resolve it, well aside from just skipping it all together as suggested
