DA62X Improvement Mod (v1.04, 05 JAN 2025. FS24 compatible)

I’m also seeing a lot of rolling left and right during climb using FLC while engaging NAV mode and attempting to join a flight path. In cruise, the roll movements are small and random. This isn’t like the “dolphin dance” pitch oscillations or the very rhythmic roll oscillations that the Citation Longitude used to have. This looks like random small roll adjustments to stay on course.

My guess is that the autopilot developers at Asobo were responding to complaints that the previous autopilot fixes didn’t command enough roll to join localizers, for example, so they changed the roll sensitivity. I’ll try a localizer in a bit and see if the intercept is improved.

Someone odd happening with the oil pressure on takeoff. Got a waning on both left and right engines as I increased the throttle, then about a third of the distance into the takeoff roll one message disappeared, then the other disappeared a little later. Once they disappear they never return during the flight. The warning in the PFD matches the oil pressure reading in the MFD, but not sure why the oil pressure is in the red zone. This was before the latest patch.

.

Maybe the engines were still too cold ?? Both coolant and oil temps are still yellow.
Thick cold oil = increase oil pressure, at least at the sensor.
I think I read a Savvy Maintenance report of a Cirrus driver were that sort of hasty departure lead to a complete engine rebuild because the bypass valve in the Continental engines opened up to avoid breaking the pump

Edit: I tested it on my sim and it does appear that the engines in your flight were simply too cold for the takeoff run. If I wait for temps to be in the green before going to full power no issue. If I push them up while I have readings similar to yours I do get the warning as well.

Currently flying across southwestern Texas in the beautiful evening light. Overall, the mod is still very flyable. I made the correction to panel.cfg and DA62_interior.xml as noted above for compatibility with the latest sim update. I’m on my way to Del Rio, Texas to fly a localizer approach.

Just found out about this mod today, and after the panel fix I’m really happy with it. I was going to comment about the fact the autopilot doesn’t seem to work. I can’t engage it, and if I try to engage any mode e.g. VS it will flick up on the fma for half a second and then disappear. Although by the looks of it this seems to be just an issue for me. I’ll try it again in the morning.

Just flew the ILS approach to RWY 13 at Del Rio, Texas (KDRT). Overall, intercept was fine. As I flew the glideslope and slowed down to Vapp (84 kias with full flaps), the autopilot started rolling right and left with larger bank angles. I disconnected the autopilot at about 600 feet above the ground and hand-flew the rest of the approach.

Great mod - thanks so much. Hopefully get an update to new MSFS patch.

Hi, love the mod, but could you remove the X from the aircraft.cfg so that it doesn’t show as DA62X or Da40NGX? I get its the mod but this wrecks the realism.

Just edit the panel.cfg file? Does the xml file still need to be edited?

I download from what you say, and have DA62X, then II put inside community, DA62XVO.2.6b, but the screens G1000 continue to be change. What I am doing wrong?

alright. so they have changed the lateral autopilot modes and the screens.

When they broke the autopilot i increased the sensitivity of the PIDs to atleast help it a bit.
it makes sense why there are oscillations

If you are the only one having an issue with this, don’t you think it would be simpler if you just edit the aircraft.cfg file on your system ??

Most other users seem to prefer having a destinction of which aircraft is used

Where can I find this ‘panel.cfg’ file?

It looks that way…both the panel.cfg and the Interior_model.xml need to be changed.
Otherwise the buttons on the bezel are applied to the wrong display

Using the two files posted a few posts up ( DA62X Improvement Mod (v1.04, 05 JAN 2025. FS24 compatible) - #844 by Flix5696 ) and simply dropping them into the correct locations (panel and model folder of the DA62NX) does work without issues that I can see.

Did you place them into the community folder or into the correct folders inside the DA62NX ??

The panel config must replace the one found in the panel folder. (1)
The Interior_model.xml must replace the one found in the model folder (2)

In calm air she is nice and stable…for example flying over water there is hardly any oscillation.
Over land where the air is less stable there is a bit of oscillation especially after making a turn to a new heading.

I can confirm that this fix perfectly works.

I put inside community DA62XVO.2.6b, the two from DA62X ( DA62_INTERIOR and PANEL) but the screens G1000 continue to be change.

In the release notes for yesterday’s update, Asobo also mentioned that they “tweaked ground effect.” Based on my flights yesterday with the DA62X, it looks like this affected both takeoffs and landings. At the rotation stage of takeoff, the airplane needs a LOT more back-pressure on the elevator to get off the ground now.

When I first started flying the DA62X mod, I found it needed more back pressure than many other planes to lift off, but I solved that by adjusting the elevator trim to be near the rearward side of the rectangular cut-out window on the righthand side of the trim wheel in the virtual cockpit. With that trim setting, rotation and liftoff felt similar to other planes in the sim. Now, even with that trim setting I need to pull back on my control yoke a lot to get the plane off the pavement.

At landing, the plane now requires more power during the flare. Before the update, I could pull the power levers to idle as the plane flew over the numbers and glide into a nice flare and touchdown. Now, if I pull the power to idle the plane drops like a rock. I can’t flare enough to stop the sink rate.

I have no idea whether the new changes are more realistic or not. Just sharing my observations of what changed.

It looks like the mod folder is in the correct location (the community folder) but the panel.cfg and DA62_INTERIOR.xml files should not be in that location. They each need to be placed in their proper folders.

panel.cfg needs to be in SimObjects>Airplanes>Asobo_DA62>panel
DA62_INTERIOR.xml needs to be in SimObjects>Airplanes>Asobo_DA62>model
