DA62X Improvement Mod (v1.04, 05 JAN 2025. FS24 compatible)

I think there is absolutely no point in going any further with this discussion about real pilots and whatnot in this thread. This should be about the DA62X Mod and help Tommy improve it even further.

I simply can’t believe my credentials and pilot experience is being put in doubt on a flight simulation forum simply because people here do not seem to actually test the scenario I introduced in the sim.
I think (hope) this might be caused by the cumbersome manual wind setting in fs2020 which might not be the best way to get a steady crosswind component.

At worst is simple denial (or envy at this point?!) by claiming that basically a airline Captain that flies a thousand passengers a day cannot figure it out and cannot keep centerline in the roll-out because he lacks the experience or the skills of ga pilots. I am genuinely laughing while I write this because this is so unreal and ridiculous is beyond comments.

Since you want to know, my handling skills are excellent (not my opinion, but my examiners) so I don’t need your lessons.

So for the last time can we focus on the issue instead of wasting time by saying that since I am a airliner pilot I cant fly a da62 in a (easy) sim? Thank you.

  1. Use real weather and find an airport with approx 25 knots crosswind component (max demonstrated for the DA62).

IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE THAT THE WIND, ONCE THE SIM IS LOADED, IS APPROX 25 KNOTS XWIND. Sometimes the injected winds are not exactly as expected.

  1. Start the takeoff roll normally.

  2. Note how much rudder input you have at 65 knots to keep centerline. And can you keep it without the use of differential braking?

If possible, make a video/screenshot with dev mode or something?

Thank you.

This is absolutely right, I know one thing for sure, this together with the aerosol density slider has not been designed by a pilot .

I don’t believe anyone directly made a comment about your personal experience or skills? I read some general comments about airline pilots and GA pilots. I didn’t feel offended by it.

An airline pilot might have lacking skills because of automation, a GA pilot might pull his aircraft out of the hangar once a month which wouldn’t be beneficial for the flying skills either.

I know this won’t be appreciated but if you look at the safety statistics in GA vs commercial aviation, GA isn’t doing so well. Not all of this is directly related to flying skills but a lot of incidents and accidents are …

Only the first bit is relevant, the rest is about helicopters…

As I said, I believe people not realize that the injected winds at ground level are not as they appear on the world map. As soon as you liftoff look at the wind on the g1000 and you can see it for yourself that it will be around half of that reported on the world map. And this is causing all this confusion and nonsense discussion. The problem is there, the rudder doesn’t have enough authority or the weather vane effect is exaggerated (might be the way the simulator calculates the vertical surfaces or else). If you can’t test it doesn’t mean that the problem is not there. I checked my rudder pedals and they worked as intended. The fs settings are all as they should be (max realism, modern flight model, autorudder off) and the only mods I have is this and the G1000 from working title.

Remove SimConnect.cfg file from My Documents to get throttle working through WASM and SimConnect again.

through the CJ4 / Working Title team identification

IMPORTANT: Warning On Kinetic Assistant and Gliders

We have numerous reports of installing Kinetic Assistant and/or gliders permanently breaking throttle events processed via WASM and SimConnect, which persists even on uninstalling these items. We recommend highly against installing those at this time, or you may not be able to use the throttles in this and other addon aircraft that intercept throttle events for FADEC and autothrottle processing code.

and the fix provided by the kinetic assistant (or deleting simconnect.cfg in your my documents folder)

compatibility issue with CJ4 mod fixed in fsConnect.dll (start Assistant and connect to the game once to fix the problem, if did not helped – remove SimConnect.cfg file from My Documents manually)

It’s utterly amazing how people don’t bother to check how much gas they have, or remember to switch tanks every so often…

@MrTommymxr When I start FSUIC7 and have your mod active for the DA62, I keep getting the event “Anti_Ice_off” displayed in the FSUIC log. Is that normal?

I saw that, too. There are also events spamming with other (stock) aircraft, do it does not necessarily have anything to do with the mod (did not try with the stock DA62).

I´m sure that it is this mod, because when I disable it there are no events about “Anti_Ice_off”

I mean, Anti-ice is off. Don’t see what’s wrong

He means that the simconnect-event “anti ice off” seems to be triggered all the time. Normally, am event is only triggered when something is changed (e.g. when you click on a switch). So it seems that something is periodically triggering the “anti ice off” event.

That being said, as I mentioned before, this can be observed with other planes as well. For example in the steam gauge C172 I see some events about COM 1 and 2 spamming.

Correct. The logic I have implemented checks that its not on, so it’s off

Removing the SimConnect.cfg in my Documents folder indeed fixed the issue with the throttles on the DA62 mod. Love the mod!

Just tried this mod and it’s awesome! Thanks a lot! Now I will definetely fly more on this bird  How about adjusting of screens’ brightness? Any chance to fix it somehow? Cheers!

PFD and MFD brightness can be easily adjusted, it was one of the first features of the G1000 mod. Click on PFD MENU button and you can set them separately.

Thanks! Do I have to download G1000 mod seperately or it was included in DA62 mod? Sorry

No issues.
Working Title’s G1000 mod is necessary for this mod to operate properly. So download and install it, unless you loose a bunch of features of this mod too.
It’ll also enhance other planes G1000 sets.
Working Title also created mods for the G3000 and the smaller G3X avionics too.

I’ve read and heard enough about this mod that I think I’m gonna have to give it a try. Hell, I’ve had it downloaded and ready for at least the past 3-4 releases, but never so much as set a (simulated) foot into the (simulated) cockpit.

Wish me luck!!!

I don’t know why but it’s not working for me, maybe something is missing

OK, overall I’m pretty impressed, with one issue that I’ll get to in a moment. But unfortunately, it’s a big one.

Overall, I found it easy to startup, taxi, and get going, and I did that without even using checklists. Yay, me. (But they do have checklists for a reason, so…) I did find the initial acceleration and climb performance to be less than what I would expect for an aircraft of this class and performance, but getting back to the whole checklist thing, that could totally be my fault because it’s very possible I missed something.

But then there’s the “problem”. And that would be the landing. I, um, well… crashed. Buh-bye million dollar aircraft!

Here’s what happened. Everything was going great on the approach, despite high gusting crosswinds. Both under autopilot control, and the part where I flew by hand. The problem happened as I was flaring for touchdown, and attempted to reduce the power. It acted like I hit a TOGA button or something, because instead of throttling down, it throttled up, and stayed that way. I did manage to force her onto the runway, but she wouldn’t stop and that resulted in a bad overrun from what should have been a greaser. Now, I know less than nothing about dealing with FADEC engines, so that could have contributed, and I can’t discount the idea that maybe I did accidentally hit some TOGA command, either on my semi-HOTAS, or by brushing the keyboard. Even after we crashed, and I settled into the shallow water upside down (I turned crash damage off and forgot), I still couldn’t get it to chill out until I turned the engines off completely.

So…

I’m open to ideas or suggestions. Did my failure to properly use a checklist and/or unfamiliarity with FADEC engines play a partial (or complete) role in what happened? Is it possible I hit a hidden and unknown TOGA command somewhere? Something else?

I really want to like this b1rd, especially after how it treated me right up until the end, but the end was a doozy, so hit me with everything you’ve got please…

Signed,
The pilot with an angry insurance company who is looking for an excuse to deny the claim.
