Dark Star. Awesome

175 Knots seems to be her red zone ‘edge’ when on approach. Holding 180 seems to be the safe speed ‘over the fence’.

It’s pretty cool but it would’ve been nice to look out the front lol. Is this a real thing that hypersonic planes like this can’t have a normal windscreen?

Also, it it possible to go hypersonic (mach9+) during free flight by applying the transition procedure they teach you as part of the challenge?

I finally landed @Shuttle Strip! very cool, but nail-biting experience lol

Absolutely, yep, everything works the same way in free flight as it does in the mission.

I got to Mach 4 today. With afterburners on, she punches through Mach 1 fairly fast. I didnt top off my tanks. I took off with half fuel, not good. But I wanted to see if I could get up to Mach 3, and I did. Becomes a wild ride with a lot of wind noise. I can hardly wait to get up to top speed in this thing.

Howard Hughes would be loving this thing.

I don’t think you’ll get up to top speed without activating the scramjets :stuck_out_tongue:

You’ll also burn through all of your fuel with none left for landing/go around.

I did fire up the Scrams. Some cool sound effects.

Hello Lyon. I’ve tried and tried to get the scram jets to lite, but am un able to. What’s the procedure?

Make sure you hit the square button on the front panel to the right of the control stick first before lighting the scram jets. You’ll want to be at ~mach 3.5 or so when you light them.

Make sure your at mach 3 + then press this button…

Then turn the scram jets on

Then in no time at all, you’ll be up here…

What do those buttons even do???

That plane has speed limit? I cant go faster than an A320

SAME! Bug, limited…I dont know.

Activating fuel cells as the scramjet engine does not offer any generator.

The actual turbojet engine is shut off and moved into the uppermost compartment so energy is generated by fuel cells instead

You can even watch the engines moving upwards when looking closely

It’s not a bug, just follow the instructions posted everywhere by now or do the challenge - the flight path even is described on the PFD if you hit the buttons above it.

But in free mode I can’t even get past match 1.
The other day I tried to make a short flight and the engines stopped running with 50% or more fuel left.

I do always that in free mode, just do what the instructions say.

Climb with full afterburners active which you have to toggle at 10°, 0.9M up to at least FL300 to FL400, start a 10°+ dive with full AB power to go past Mach 1.5 and go out of that dive with around 1.2G - on climbing with 20°

As you gonna exceed Mach 3, hit the fuel cell button and activate the scramjet. Get pushed through the stratosphere at Mach 9+.

That’s it, works for me always.

Nothing. I’ve been doing the mission and I’m staying there.
Impossible to make match 3. In fact I don’t get past 1.
It must be completely buggy.

I didn’t get to activate the scramjets due to user error (accidentally turned the engines off) but you can always briefly dive and then pull up to a little below 10 degrees to gain speed. I did that a couple times and hit Mach 3 and got the prompt.
