Brief description of the issue:

The Sperry autopilot currently has several incorrect/missing functions. This includes:

  1. Cage Knob on the Directional Gyro unit functions as a Desired Heading control right now (item 2 in the official manual image). This should be functioning as a Cage Knob, nothing more.
  2. The Aileron Control Knob functions as Pitch Hold right now (item 4 in the official manual image). This should be controlling the deflection of the ailerons instead.
  3. The Rudder control knob functions as a Heading Hold right now (item 3 in the official manual image). This should be used to set the desired heading instead.

Here is my two pennyworth (as at November 23):

I beleive that the Sperry functions have been corrected except for the ā€˜Heading Holdā€™ button. (Button number 5 in the lastest edition of the manual - and not as shown above).

I think that the heading hold button has been configured as a rotary control whereas it should be a push button (so as to activate the heading hold).

That should be easy enought to fix!

I think some of the issues the OP reported have been fixed but heading hold is not working.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

The following observations were made with an empty community folder: After engaging the autopilot the RUD knob does have a push to activate the ā€œheading holdā€ function that it did have on itā€™s original release (based on several videos on how to use the Sperry Autopilot).
The heading hold can be engaged using a controller/keyboard mapping to TOGGLE AUTOPILOT HEADING HOLD or AUTOPILOT HEADING HOLD ON. This does indeed engage a heading hold but I can find no way of controlling the heading the plane flies on. It does not respond the RUD button.
Having engaged our heading hold it is not possible to disengage it with controller/keyboard mappings to TOGGLE AUTOPILOT HEADING HOLD and AUTOPILOT HEADING HOLD OFF.
Minor note when using the controller mappings you can hear the click of the switch the game imagines you are setting. It even logs the state so if you try to turn it on twice you only get a click for the first request.

Marked as by design.
