DC Designs AV-8B Harrier II Discussion thread

It is possible to have a forum channel on Discord if so set up. Another modeller has already done this but it doesn’t appear to be used much.

I will look into this.

Stay on topic though folks, this thread is for the Harrier :+1:

Do you include the classic DARK Green/ Grey scheme of the early type (AV-8B “Killer bee” USMC) Harrier2?

This looks awesome and I cannot wait for its release (hopefully on xbox!) soon.

Any chance of another discord invite link? The one posted above is invalid at this point. Thanks!

I can’t quite see, but is the air dam door between the gun pods modelled, it should deploy with the airbrake in the hover when the undercarriage is down?

Looking forward to this release immensely

It can be seen in this video https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/uIB8NEEt2hk

Thanks Dean!

It looks great! I’ll be getting this one on Day 1 for certain.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, will the different interiors be modeled to match the aircraft?

-Single DDI, small HUD for Day Attack/GR.5
-Dual MPCD, large HUD for Night Attack/Plus/GR.7/9?

And will weapons be available(assuming there is a non-MS Store version)?

Thanks!

Is there a water tank and water injection simulated ?

They told their fb page 3 days ago
“H20 useage is monitored, but we’re undecided about whether to include engine problems if H20 is expended. Most users will have their hands full already.”
“Quality is subjective - the vast majority of simmers do not want “study-level” aircraft. Sacrificing certain details does not equate to lower quality at all. However, I personally would like to include the H20. We will make a decision on that soon I’m sure.”

Thanks. That’s fine I reckon. They are similar enough that it won’t matter to most.

I am going to miss that huge HUD though!

Water management would be interesting. But I kind of get the feeling that the performance is going to be fairly optimistic to keep the casual crowd from spamming the Support channels with complaints about why their Harrier can’t land vertically.

If that’s the case, then water may be kind of irrelevant, I’d think. :slightly_smiling_face:

Perhaps repurpose an otherwise unused switch to provide ‘infinite’ H2O as a user option?

There is many people who have been flying with DCS Harrier and wants something similar to MSFS. So realistic H2O should be an option.

Understood and I agree.

But, just so we are on the same sheet of music, the DCS Harrier has also undergone a good bit of variance in its VSTOL performance over the years, also generally on the optimistic side.

Personally, I’d love to see a true study level Harrier. but I don’t think “impenetrable” is what DC is going for. :joy:

From what i understand yes there is a water management switch on left hand side near the throttle and nozzle controls

I can confirm that, a recent demo video on youtube shows the pilot toggling it before landing
