DC Designs F-14A/B Tomcat Announcement & Discussion

in the version you have it doesn’t work but in the one we have here it does. You have to add some interactive contact points in flightmodel.cfg to make it work again. I don’t know if this solution would work for you, but try it just in case:

No, the throttle moves a LOT during landing - in the landing configuration, throttle controls descent rate, stick controls speed ( in most, if not all, aircraft ). Nail the AoA at 140 knots and then ride the throttle to control the descent rate, airspeed will mostly take care of itself :+1:

DEANO1973: I’m just now seeing this message. :frowning:

Was told to “wave off” but landed anyway.
“Boy!!! am I going to get it”
“Girl!! your ego is writing checks your body can’t cash”

In order to land I had to turn off damage, auto throttle on, Hard Deck Simulations program on.

Will keep trying to land but without the Hard Deck program turned on and with crash mode on but It’s hard for me to concentrate on AOA, throttle, altitude all at the same time :face_with_peeking_eye: Plus, no GS indicator. Mark One Eyeball. May try with the F15

Good effort! You need to use the “Meatball” ( on the new moving carrier, forget about the HDS carrier ) - the set of lights on the port side of the carrier deck. Your eyes should cycle AoA, meatball, line-up throughout the descent. Welcome to naval aviation and proper flying

ETA: Meatball works with a green light in the centre of AoA, red lights either side for line up, and the LSO will talk you down.

Yes it is, but it does get easier with time and practice… When I first started, I could barely hold the plane level, LOL, now I’m formation flying, and soon want to practice formation take-offs and landings… Oh the joy of Flight Sim.!!!

BTW… Thanks DEAN and JACK for making these incredible aircraft!!! My next purchase is the F-15.

“You’re a little low, Coug. - Come on, buddy, pull up . Pull up, Cougar . … Cougar, you’re well below glide path, three-quarters of a mile. Call the ball.”

Can someone please!!! cut me out of this plane??? I told you I SUCK!!! at this. :frowning:
Think I’m going to need a working ejection seat.

Hah, that’s the F-15, it won’t land well on a carrier as it can’t in real life either - the hook is not strong enough. Thinking about it, the F-14 update isn’t out for this yet ( next week ), so your best bet is to practice with the Asobo F-18, which already works with the carrier.

Ok!! I’ll try the F18. I don’t have any flight time in it, but I’ll give it a go. :face_with_peeking_eye:
“Eject, Eject, Eject”

BTW: This has been a fun conversation. I enjoy the friendly learning environment.
Also, Grumman A-6 Intruder???

Starscream could have nailed that landing…

I think the landing gear would break if you tried to do a carrier landing with an Eagle, too.

Now the Concorde, on the other hand…

Hope I can ask this question in this group? If not please feel free to delete it.

Anyone using the HOTAS WARTHOG and if so, how do you like it?

Thanks!!!

I dont by any means aim to promote your competitions products but the Indiafoxtecho T45 Goshawk is excellent for carrier training.
It even has carrier take off and landing set up for just such an occassion

Yes, it’s a great jet for sure, but the FA-18E is free so it allows practice without outlay for those that want it :+1:

Yeh thats a very very good point :man_facepalming:

Batterby76: Thank you for posting about the T45 Goshawk. I did check it out and it has good reviews but for now I will just use the F14 with the HDS program on.

DEANO1973: I did try the F18 last night, and again this morning not a fan. “Eject, Eject, Eject” :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’ve only been flying for 3 months, just over 400 flight hours now and so, I will try to not be so hard on myself. Wish they had a carrier landing training package I could add to MSFS. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

My next add on aircraft, Harrier Jump Jet, A-10 warthog from DC Designs. Both will be purchased from JustFlights. Would love to see an A-6 Intruder. I know it’s a bomber, not a fighter and so, it may not get much love. lol

A6 intruder now theres a good sugestion. :+1:

I DID IT. :grinning: I had to use the HDS program again!!! and land on a different carrier but this will be good training until the F14 update.

Photo two shows a crowded deck, with no love for the Tomcat. So, I made my own parking spot. Would love to see a working elevator that takes you below the hard deck.

Again!! Thank you all for your advice and the friendly learning environment. :hugs:

“Great job, now don’t get cocky” Smile if you know where that quote is from.

PS. I think I might be the only person in the world who uses a yoke (Saitek) to fly the F-14 (and other fast jets) instead of a stick… the group I fly with is always commenting about it… You could call me a “Yoke and Rudder” person… LOL :flight_departure: :airplane: :flight_arrival: :exploding_head:

Zeanuck: I want to say Star Wars New Hope but I think he says “Great kid, now don’t get cocky” another reason to watch New Hope again. :hugs:

My setup was for the A320 but then I found the Tomcat and it was love at first sight. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I’m now looking to get the Hotas Warthog.

I love military aircraft. Fast, inflight refueling, invert flying, rolling, climbing and banks so hard you blackout. lol This all on a 150+ inch projector. I LOVE!!! it.

YES!!! I think you may be right about the quote… I bow to your superior Star Wars knowledge.

The TOMCAT was my first love… Period, when I first saw that beast in my youth watching Top Gun in the theater when it released there was no turning back…
